iPhone is outdated: BlackBerry CEO

Heins' comments are true irrespective of how well (or should we rather say "not so well") BlackBerry is doing.

Fruit fight! Fruit fight! :D

Well done. Excellent chirp. Made me laugh.

All we need now is Samsung & Google joining in and we have virtually all the 5 year old kids in the playground

Lets face it
- People have preferences and some phones sneak ahead of others BUT
- Right now none of Apple, BB, WP8 and Android (Smartphone and tablet) are that different from one another
- People argue from the eco-system they are part of (My team is the best grunt, grunt) but that is a completely flawed argument. Argue from the perspective if you were in the other eco-system and see where you come out

I ask the simple question
- If one was an iOS user what is there to lure them across to another ecosystem that makes the migration effort and cost worth it (then apply vice versa). I get the same answer both ways. Nothing.

I use iOS. I want changes. I see things in like in other o/ses and ecosystems
I see nothing to lure me across that is worth the effort or cost.
Now if I flip it across and I am advising an invested Android user. I can think of no worthwhile argument to lure them the other way.

Sad but the industry is awaiting the next big thing. The next big product category.
Will it be wearable computers? Who knows?
Apple were early to the game with a good product with the most recent product categories.
It does not follow that they will get it right this time.
They are working on glasses as well. But they are secretive so we have no idea how far along they are (if at all)

BUT on Android I can multi-task
What exactly do you multitask, and how does it make it better than plain task switching in iOS?

access a common file depository which allowes me to use one of several apps to open/use/access a file ... and no need for iTunes ... just plain drag and drop from any computer or USB drive onto my tablet.
With cloud based services like Dropbox & Evernote, do you honestly still shunt (work) files around using USB cables? Even iTunes (if you optionally want to use it) is capable of transferring via local WiFi or iCloud.

Well, iOS6 still looks exacty the same as iOS1, so he's got a point.

The icon grid is so old and cold. Something fresh and new, please!

In JB I can have two apps running next to one-another in two separate windows ... like Windows. I can use both without swopping screens and pushing buttons.

Yes, I do the sneakernet USB thing despite having Dropbox and Evernote. I exchange files with other staff members all the time and larger files just works far better using USB sticks. Why opload and download the whole time? We are not living in places where real broadband is commonly available and cheap. USB drives works great. But no matter what I say Apple fans will disagree and say "USB drives are so not cool dude".

Yes, which ones, I have a Note 10.1 in front of me and want to see how much more productive it is.

The whole windowing thing doesn't work for me with the system apps like Email, Gmail etc. The screens resolution is too low, Samsung's fonts are too oversized (even on Tiny setting) and window resizing is painful & inaccurate (even with the S-Pen).

For me Android will stay nr 1 because.... I can install any pirated or non pirated app on it without jail breaking the phone. Whatsapp is free on it. :D And I can make it look like windows phone 8 the 1 day, iphone the next etc... Can root it in 30 seconds with a universal root app found on xda-developers. After the root I can load a CPU manager on it that boosts the cpu to x speed depending on the requirements of the app or make the CPU 250mhz when phone is in sleep mode (got a day of extra use out of my phone thanks to this) etc etc etc...

I totally understand for the likes of yourself and your requirements that Android makes sense.

For me though, I dont mess with my car's engine management system, I dont chip it.
Neither would I spend time rooting a device.

One thing I always say "anti-iOS or anti-Apple" people miss, is that MOST people don't care to root, jailbreak etc

I'm fairly advanced with my computer skill, and I don't really care for all the fancy stuff like customizing etc. I use my phone to run my business and my life, that's it. With the Gmail app, my iPhone 4 is like a BB now, with true push email. Those are the things that matter to me, and to many other users.

That's how Apple has made its money. They put out a product that doesn't "scare" people from using it. Apple is simple, that's it.

Most people are generally scared or intimidated by PC's.

I do agree though, iOS needs a SERIOUS makeover...

Not anymore. iOS 6 has a lot of issues that I keep reading about. Enough to not update my wife's iPad and iPhone to 6.1.x. 5.1.1 is still the most stable, IMO.

Can't speak for iPhone, but there's nothing with my iPad running 6.1.3. I waited and waited but eventually took the plunge and I like the new look store for one. With Google releasing maps for iPhone there's nothing I know of that ought to keep people from updating.

He's not wrong.

Using my iPad makes me feel back in the 90s

Who says iOS is all icons and nothing more...??

Who said iOS doesn't do multitasking?

Jailbreak is the only reason I can think of for not updating...
