iPhone price shock

So why don't you all rather look the pre-paid options from Europe. The average for a 8GB model on pre-paid is 500 Euros, which is +/- R6000. Much simpler than trying to figure out what a contract cancellation from AT&T is going to cost you.

Just got an SMS from Dion Wired. 8Gig - R6389, and 16Gig - R7569. I am assuming that must be prices without the contract. No mention of contract prices.

Vodacom:

The packages cost R450 per month for 120 minutes with a pay-in of R2 189 for the 8GB and R3 299 for the 16GB at the low end.

The top package includes 500 minutes, costs R925 per month and requires a pay-in of R1 799 for the 8GB and R2 899 for the 16GB model

I was patiently holding out for the iPhone hoping it wouldn't be hugely over-priced (as I guess was expected).

And having been a loyal Vodacom subscriber for a number of years, I signed up with MTN today. Got an Anytime 200 contract with a Samsung Omnia - R319 pm and no pay in.

Good for you! Vodacom need to be stopped.

See Ya Vodacom

Personally I just do not understand greed to this extent. Lets see...word has it Vodacom expects to sell around 30,000 units for the year..thus screwing each consumer out of roughly R5000...doing the maths Vodacom will be loading their treasure chests with approximately R150,000,000
Great retention strategy VSP...Hello MTN...Now go work out what 10% seeya's on 30,000 business contracts will cost you Vodacom...

Uum please explain your logic, should they be giving away phones for free now?
