Which would you buy and why?

I got my iphone today... but at the back of my mind I was wondering if the Blackberry would have being a smarter purchase. I would have got the Google Nexus One... if they had it here. I love the thought of being able to hack my phone.

I got got the iphone for its looks (hardware and software), but Im wondering if I shoulda gone for Blackberry brains.

I was lucky to have both for a period of 3 months. I sold the BB and kept my iPhone.

Reasons:
1. Didn't like how Gmail worked with BB. iPhone mail client was way more simple and synced better. I've set up Push for my email, so I get them instantly.
2. Browsing was SLOOWWW!! But very slow! I don't mind paying 100MB per month of data. Balls for the R60 "unlimited data" nonsense.
3. Didn't really care about BBM as all my BB friends have Gmail accounts and use Googletalk to communicate with me.
4. Jailbreaking is so simple on the iPhone.
5. iTunes Store. (Need I say more? - over 140 000 apps)

The iphone was the right decision :) why you ask?

Simple I wake up everyday at the best time because I use an app called sleep cycle which monitors your sleeping patterns and wakes you up when you are most awake!
I check the news at the breakfast table using the news24 app,When I full my car up with petrol I can track how much I got per litter and when my next servise is using kilofuel. When I buy my movie ticket or want to track my spendings I just open an app called moneybook which tracks my income and expenses and what I have been spending all my money on.When I am waiting in the line at home affair's I can play a whole bunch of games ;) when the lights to out I can watch a move! When I am on the go I get push email so I can stay on top of my game and I can surf the web with ease unlike with the Black berries!

And so much more :) you made the right decision

I use both on a regular basis but when I leave the house it's the blackberry I grab first. Here in SA the BB is a no brainer because of the r59 data plan. The iPhone, and in particular Safari, is data hungry and it will cost a fortune to use it the way it was intended to be used. In the UK last week O2 gave me unlimited data on my iPhone for £10.

And now I'm going to go look at PRTG Network Monitor :)

I think when people compare BB and the iPhone its a bit of a open ended question, what BB phone are you talking about ?

If you compare the iPhone to anthing then it has to be something that does simular things, like the Storm. The Storm is rubbish though so I would get the iPhone over the storm.

However BB have other phones that are brilliant but don't do all the flashy things the iPhone does.

Its simple get a BB if you want a business tool, get an iPhone if you want a toy.

I've had an 8830 and a Storm and now have an iPhone. The BB is better with Exchange integration (iPhone still can't send out meeting invites or accept meetings) but only marginally so. This probably once again boils down to personal preference but for me the iPhone has it. It really irks me when I see people saying it's a toy - I'm an IT consultant so depend heavily on my phone. For me, the iPhone is not a toy, it's a very good business phone, even though in some respects is not as good as the BB. Try browsing websites on the BB, or using it as a portable music player (when travelling). App store is great too.

I have a BB Curve 8900 and a iPhone 3GS. When it comes to multimedia I prefer the iPhone. When it comes to e-mail, internet, messaging and chat I prefer the BB. Mainly because it's free though. If the iPhone was able to use BIS then maybe it would've been another story.

For many BIS equates to unlimited browsing and email for only r59 per month.
