If you guys want tickets for 30 April you better buy now. Just purchased tickets and virtually all the grandstand seats are gone. Only the small areas I and G had left. Grass embankment also had left, not sure how many.
I will be sitting on the grassMuch nicer IMO.
So, are we going on the 30th then. I prefer sitting on the grass
I will be there. not sure if we will be able to meetup with you guys sitting on the grass and me in the stands but we will see if we can make a plan to maybe meeting up between the two games.

IPL could be derailed

IPL drama (Gallo)
By Altus Momberg - Die Burger
Cape Town – The Indian Premier League could be derailed because of a dispute over the use of pavilion suites.
Organisers of the Twenty20 tournament and suite holders are currently at logger heads over who will have the use of the suites during games.
The IPL are also embroiled in a dispute with the media over restrictions the organisers want to impose on reporting and photographic material.
One of the demands put to the local unions is that all the seats in the suites will belong to the IPL for the duration of the tournament.
That was the clear message on Wednesday after a meeting at Newlands in Cape Town involving the IPL, Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) and Western Province Cricket Club (WPCC).
Andre Odendaal, chief executive of the WPCA, sent suite holders a letter in which he said Newlands would lose its eight games in the tournament if the suites are not given to the IPL.
The IPL have offered to compensate suite holders.
“The IPL’s non-negotiable position is that if we want to hose the eight games, they will require the right to the suites,” Odendaal wrote.
In exchange the IPL are offering the following:
- Each suite will receive its ticket allocation en bloc in the main pavilion;
- Suite holders will also receive access to a tent near the field where they can eat and drink for free.
According to Odendaal the deadline for a decision is Thursday.
It is not only at Newlands where the problem has arisen.
Johann van Heerden, chief executive of Free State Cricket, confirmed the suites are also a problem for the two games that will be played in Bloemfontein.
“I received correspondence from the IPL about the issue. My suite holders are not happy,” said Van Heerden.
Lions chief executive Alan Kourie confirmed he will meet the IPL on Thursday to get clarity on the issue.
The IPL is also in dispute with the WPCC, who are the owners of the members pavilion at Newlands.
Chairperson Paul Burton said that the WPCC had discussed issues related to the 14 suites in their pavilion, ticket prices and rights to the supply of food and drink.
The Twenty20 series was moved to South Africa last month after the Indian government could not guarantee the safety of players. The tournament starts at Newlands next week with games on Saturday and Sunday.
I wonder what kind of restrictions they referring to.The IPL are also embroiled in a dispute with the media over restrictions the organisers want to impose on reporting and photographic material.

Knights win, Sourav makes impact
- Cheteshwar pujara’s unbeaten 66 is the top score versus Free state
LOKENDRA PRATAP SAHI
Sourav
Calcutta: Two-and-a-half years ago, Sourav Ganguly scored a rich-in-character 83 within a day or so of landing in South Africa.
That was for Team India in a warm-up (first-class) match against Rest of South Africa, ahead of the Test series, in Potchefstroom.
On Wednesday, Sourav authored an unbeaten 61 for the Kolkata Knight Riders in Bloemfontein, an innings which helped thrash Free State by nine wickets in a T20 game.
Another warm-up match, but with a difference, this time a build-up to the IPL.
However, there was pressure then and there’s pressure now.
Back in December 2006, Sourav had been making a comeback, that too in the Greg Chappell era. He had lots to prove. This time, the pressure is captaincy-related.
Specifically, whether Sourav will be retained as the top Knight or not. He did lead on Wednesday, though.
It’s not clear whether there will be a regular captain for the IPL’s second edition, from April 18, or the captaincy would be rotated.
Cricket manager John Buchanan’s multiple leaders concept, by the way, is on trial during the warm-up games. The first two (against the same opposition on Tuesday), it may be recalled, had ended in big defeats.
“I don’t wish to comment on the captaincy issue… But, yes, it’s nice to get runs in one’s first match in new conditions… However, there’s a long way to go… There’s plenty of work to be done,” Sourav told The Telegraph.
Having reached Bloemfontein only on Monday evening, Sourav said he was “still jet-lagged.”
The Knights restricted Free State to 152 for eight. The target was knocked off with five balls to spare.
No.3 Cheteshwar Pujara also scored an unbeaten half-century — 66, the Knights’ best effort.
Ajit Agarkar and Charl Langeveldt were the most successful bowlers, each getting two wickets.
Mashrafe Mortaza, making his maiden appearance in the Knight Riders colours, had two good (middle) overs, but went for runs in his first and fourth.
He landed with Sourav and, being a quick, needs more time to acclimatise.
The next warm-up game is on Saturday, when the Knights will be playing amongst themselves. The one after that is on Tuesday, once again against Free State.
Meanwhile, wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha, who underwent surgery on his left thumb late on Monday, is moving around with his arm in a sling.
“Nothing can be assumed till the stitches are removed… For now, we’ve just got to wait and watch,” is what the Knights’ team director, Joy Bhattacharjya, had to say.
who will Graeme smith play for in the cobra vs Royals game?
Good morning
Due to unforeseen circumstances, sales for the IPL games to be held at the Wanderers Stadium, will NOT open today as advertised.
