iPod Shuffle (3rd generation) no longer shuffles.

Hi all.

Contrary to LMFAO - everyday I'm NOT shuffling...

I've had an iPod Shuffle (3rd generation) for some time now. It was always working fine, but the last couple of months I started encountering some glitches. More often than not, the controls on the headphones would not respond, thus I could not adjust the volume or skip songs. I thought that the fault was with the headphones, as I train with it at least 3 times a week and assumed that the sweat and wear and tear might have taken its toll on the headphones.

I decided to replace the headphones with my iPhone 4S's headphones, which were brand new and looked the same.

This solved all the problems, except, it does not shuffle at all now - it plays the music in sequence, whether on shuffle or not?!

Has anyone encountered the same problem, and, does anyone have a solution?

Have you reset/restored it through iTunes?

A friend who does a lot of running has killed more than one iPod shuffle due to moisture from sweat. If buttons are acting up and a reset/restore doesn't solve it then that's probably the cause.
