Hi guys

I need some help with a VPN setup between home and office.

Office has a SBS2008 box. I need two users to access Exchange and mapped drives from home.

The PPTP connection works fine if only one user logs on at a time.

The IPSec connection requires authentication when trying to access the mapped drives, despite giving the normal and network admin user credentials it doesn't accept and exchange doesn't connect at all.

Both PC's/users are already a member of the DC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We need more information please. Where is the VPN server? (router or sbs)

I would avoid IPSec until you get the overall set-up working, too many nasties on the client side to work out.

For PPTP, more than one user will obviously work but it depends on how you set-up the PPTP Server.

Hi there

there 2x Netgear DG834 setup on both sides. IPSec is between the routers. The PPTP is passed through straight to the SBS server.

If you already have an IPSec VPN between the two sites, why are you persisting with PPTP?

Add the sever details to your C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file it should solve the Exchange connection problem.

btw, solved it. using PPTP connections. Needed to set the home router to bridged and made each client connect with their own ppoe connections.

I'm still a little puzzled why the IPSec didn't work, despite editing the hosts files.
