IPv4 vs IPv6 – Performance comparison

Yes but torrents are significantly faster.

Learnt that one the hard way. I get IPV6 via my office. For a few days my torrents were absolutely flying down.

Then I looked at the traffic on vpn interface and realised just how much dodgy traffic I was pulling through the work network ;) I presume its because infrastructure that supports IPV6 tends to be newer and faster than infrastructure that doesn't.

We've been running IPv6 at the office for years and I've had it at home for about 3 years now. Honestly there is no noticeable difference between v4 and v6.

I am going to hold off for sometime still, IPv6 still has way too many vulnerabilities...

1. If you have slow Internet (cellular or wireless) suffering packet lost, you should stick with IPv4. Fortunately SA cellular networks didn't do transition yet.

2. If you have home grade router, stick with IPv4. Home grade routers don't give sufficient protection on IPv6 network. Even if they do, configuration require proffesional knowledge. It is especially valid on unrestricted APN (like Telkom).

3. If using Windows PC, remove IPv6 network layer in network adapter properties, it will stop MS IPv6 tunneling service and save you lot of problems.
