Iran hacks and nuke station

Well that makes it all better now. Theyre only using demo software to run their nuclear power station. *phew* There I thought they were using a complete pirated version instead of a limited demo version. I feel so much safer now. There I was worried about the lack of professionalism and standards (you know.. its a nuke station and all) and now all my concerns have being laid to rest as theyre running a demo version.

chilled, it's only a nuclear power station... in the even of it's melt down, we in the deep south will only see the fuel price go up and not much less :p (and possible people going crazy on the news)
 
***, the title might be a bit misleading or I just need to read carefully. Was under the impression Iran hacked another country's nuke silo / nuke plant...
 
Pentagon Accused Of Launching Supervirus Attack On Iranian Nuclear Plant

According to Gizmodo

Stuxnet—which some experts consider the most advanced virus ever—appears to be focusing its attacks on Iranian nuclear plants. Now, the Pentagon and German intelligence are being accused of creating the virus to take down Iran's atomic facility.

The worm seems to be designed to focus on very specific systems, differentiating between industrial computers "without human assistance," according to German researcher Ralph Langner:
Stuxnet is the key for a very specific lock—in fact, there is only one lock in the world that it will open. The whole attack is not at all about stealing data but about manipulation of a specific industrial process at a specific moment in time. This is not generic. It is about destroying that process.

Iranian news agencies are confirming that the attack is happening. According to the Mehr News Agency, however, the worm is "designed to transfer data about production lines from our industrial plants to (locations) outside of the country." They claim that they are "successfully battling" this cyberattack, which may cripple the Bushehr nuclear plant. This plant—which is Russian-built but has Siemens computer systems—is allegedly being used to enrich uranium for the Iranian nuclear weapons program. Unlike some of the goofy Iranian weaponry, the international community considers Iran's atomic bomb ambitions as one of the biggest risks to world peace.

The Pentagon is being accused of working with the friendly German intelligence services to create the Stuxnet virus. The Germans could have provided data about Siemens' computers, which could have been the key to develop the worm.

However, Pentagon's spokesman Colonel David Lapan said the Department of Defense can "neither confirm nor deny" reports that it launched this attack.

100000% speculation.

I noticed the juicy bit of information that you left out was this virus attacked systems in the USA as well. *cough*.
 
What nuke station did they hack?

Who cares what they are running the power station on, maybe we get lucky and the middle east goes ka boom.

Rather a software virus than a few JDAMs.
