Anybody else getting this random error?

"avgrsx.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Never had this with the previous AVG

Haven't had that error but I am not happy with AVG 8 either. Too many false positives, ties up the pc etc. Guess I'll have to find something else. I've heard good things about Nod32 but I'm still deciding if I want to pay for antivirus protection. Should be other free one's out there.

I bought the full version of AVG 8 Internet Security, runs like a dream on my Vista Business laptop. :)

Also purchased AVG 8 File Server edition for our company, it's absolutely brilliant.

I am thinking of giving Avast a try again. :(

If you're thinking of going the Vista route, I can definitely recommend AVG 8.

Never had any problems/crashes since I installed it on Vista SP1.

AVG 8 and vodamail on my Vista business box was a marriage made in hell for me - got rid of both. Now on (exclusively) gmail and have turned avg off for all mail. What a pleasure. I ran for 5 years with no antivirus when with mweb, and the only nasty I ever got was from my own sister in NZ (bless her!). That was my own stupid curiousity - trying to open "blaster. scr" at 5 in the morning over a cup of hangover coffee!

AVG 8 on the wife's XP with vodamail is also hell - can't set the timeout any longer in Outlook Express, but it's still taking up to 10 minutes to scan one email.

Guess we will end up paying for an AV solution.

im running avg 8 internet security on vista ultimate sp1 working 100% also turned off link scanner....

I'm running AVG 8.0 Free on two XP boxes, without problems - but then I've got the link scanner and email scanner switched off.

Same AVG 8.0.100 no problems Windows XP SP2 don't use Outlook, so email scanner is off link scanner on btw
