No. I like small phones and all the flagships are mini tablets.
Then again all new phones these days are huge so I will stick with my 12 mini till someone brings out a good small phone again. Or flip phones advance so the screen last longer than a year or two.

IMHO, The previous year's semi flagship hits the sweet spot. Normally considerably cheaper, and you don't really give up any performance.

Semi flagship = Galaxy S. (not utlra,Plus or FE). or normal iPhone (not Pro,Air,Max).

I still like flagships but I keep it for a long time so cost is not a lot over the time (5 years or so).
Everytime I try mid range the camera is a huge let down so I buy a flagship anyway.

Send me a PM. Use an alt account. As someone in the building industry this interests me. I didn't realise these phones support LiDAR . I don't have money for the equipment, but this can be very useful. I would like to import this information into Archicad using point cloud format. Is this possible?
I'm not familiar with Archicad, but I use an app called Abound to create point clouds. It produces LAZ and XYZ files which both work for my needs. Generally I haven’t had too much trouble converting files to something usable. QGIS is free software that works with these files, although there are paid options as well.

Would love to see an example of the scan on a site and how much it captures and to what detail.

To me it is not worth spending R20K+ on a phone. After having an iPhone 7+ for quite a few years, I upgraded to a refurbished iPhone 12 last month. The 12 does everything I need.

Flagships like the S series or Pro series offer great value for long term ownership.

For example, the Galaxy A series still doesn’t have wireless charging after 10 years of it being on the S series.

Apple was similar with gatekeeping 120hz for years.

Wireless isn't really that great

Wireless isn't really that great

can help you in the car or even if you need to charge multiple items at one time - and because it is slower it isn't as destructive to your battery as quick charging and PD would be

reverse wireless charging is another great option too - you can use your buddies phone to wirelessly charge yours if he has capacity to spare and yours runs out

Had plenty early flagships iphone3, s3 and s5 all felt like a big step forward.

I was then using some the Huawei flagships before Google disappeared from them. They were great and I would go back if Google was back even if they spy on me.

Then got a mid range Samsung, which was fine for the most part battery was a bit rubbish.

Decided to treat myself to flagship Samsung s24, I guess kinda flagship.

Worst phone I have ever owned camera is kak, takes a picture then tries to upscale it with Ai, end result a blurry mess. Screen is grainy. Wireless charging makes the phone so hot you burn yourself. Doesnt feel premium at all.

I have been put off flagships for life. Haven't decided what the next phone is just yet.

Other: For me it comes down to the camera, performance, longevity and also the (potential future) resale value. Space and processing power are normally at the top of my list when comparing.
Resale value? Wow that never even once occurred to me when considering a phone.

Yes got around 5 years of usage with my Samsung Galaxy Note and the iPhone will be similar if not more. My midrange or budget purchases usually only lasted a year to 2 years before battery issues or just slowness.
That is very true.

So, I've decided on the OPPO X9 Pro.

It has all the bells and whistles and the huge battery is my biggest reason as well as eSIM which I really need when traveling outside the EU.

Also getting great deal here with the contract.

These Chinese phones are really underrated.

Even at 15w it just keeps the phone alive if you're using it for something like Android auto :-(

Are you sure you got a real S24? Cause screen being grainy and pictures being up-scaled with AI sounds like either you got a dud or a phoney. There was an update that caused an issue with vivid and natural not switching correctly, but that would've just caused washed out colours not grainy.
Did you buy it from Takealot?

Yip, screen is the main reason why I got my S24
