What do you use LiDAR for ?
I do a lot of site work where it’s useful to have a quick and dirty 3D model but not worth the time to do full photogrammetry. Not gonna elaborate much more since I don’t like giving too much personal detail on account of all the shameful crap I post.

The sad part is that 12K is slowly becoming the normal price for a lower midrange phone.

to the guy earning R60k to R80k per month ..... none of this matters - they will happily pay the R1200 per month for 36 months that the ultimate topflight pro-max Ultimates and latest Ultra's are going to cost them over 36 months

and soon with the Tri-folds being currently launched they will gladly pay the R3k per month required for the 36 months for those too (first batch seems to be sold out wherever it has already launched) and its slated to be priced between R90k and R100k for the ZA region so the R30k and R12k phones are for the amateurs and us "don't haves" now 😜🤷‍♂️☹️

i don't use the phone to browse the net - the screen is too small ..... and i can't be fussed and bothered by the grammar nazis ..... and don't really give a schit about them
But you write portfolios. It's not about being a grammar Nazi,it's about decency and respect so others can understand and read your posts with some basic literacy. Don't be selfish like that.

Difficult to read your posts, but you don't care of course.

R60K in income don't get you far these days if you are not a Bachelor.

Send me a PM. Use an alt account. As someone in the building industry this interests me. I didn't realise these phones support LiDAR . I don't have money for the equipment, but this can be very useful. I would like to import this information into Archicad using point cloud format. Is this possible?

Yes. And flagship means Apple.
The rest they should just stop selling.

I don't care for phones. Never have. I haven't purchased a new phone in my entire life. My phones have either been hand-me-downs from my mom, who gets regular upgrades through work and gets to keep the old phone, or I got to keep my own previous company phone when they were upgraded.

Current phone is my mom's old work phone. Previous phone was my old work phone.

A basic smartphone that can handle the day-to-day apps (WhatsApp, banking app, Discovery app, etc) is all I need.

Forking out 20k+ for a phone is madness.

Not the point you are making but brings up a value proposition to me either way.

When it comes to choosing a Pro or non-Pro iPhone the purchasing decision spans beyond the device itself.

I would rather a non-Pro iPhone and iPad recycle in between so that I can have more value overall, than buy a Pro phone only to then not have money (or the will power) to upgrade my iPad in between as well.

That being said my iPad upgrade cycle is far longer, possibly because I can’t see myself ever going without FaceID and hence my 2018 iPad Pro just keeps on klapping.

But if I was in a forced choice scenario and you said I must choose between an iPhone 17 Pro Max or an iPhone 17 + iPad Mini I would choose the latter every single time.

nobody died and made me important - so no real reason to even bother to read my posts since they all seem like gobbledygook and gibberish to you anyway

Never bought new phone, usually year old mid range/flagship from reputable shop and then I keep them until they become unusable or get stolen like my G6.
Wife was not on board initially but now does not care, still using S21.

My s10 battery was bad and it lacked space so decided to upgrade in December. Was considering FE range but then started looking at POCO phones almost settling for 7 series.
That led me to F8 pro, which again it is hard to believe I got second hand, well almost new for a reduced price.
Honestly I think that thing is too powerful for my needs and I hope it will serve me for the next 5-6 years.

To be honest back in the day they were worth it, today they're just meh compared to phones half the price. I had a Note 10 and damn to this day the best phone I ever had still wish I fixed it instead of getting the S24 ultra. Wife has had a S23 FE for years and loves it, I use it sometimes and I could honestly use it every day no problem.

Actually it's simple, if you can afford one cash, go for it.
If you make debt or only afford it because of the 36 month contract, you are a fool.

No why? You can get other brands with the same features for half the price....

"oh, but my camera takes better prictures!!!"

Yeah, we all care about the pictures you never show anybody.
