Thanks, when are we going to get an explanation for the 24 hour outage on 29/30 April? We were promised a report explaining what happened haven't received anything yet.

Quick question

In cases like these, would having G-Suite or Microsoft Exchange for emails still work?

At least if I can have access to mails it would be okay

Hosting your email externally would resolve issues such as these.

We’ve recieved feedback from clients advising that mobile operators connecting to their sites aren’t affected at the moment.

Morning!

We're still busy compiling an incident report which will be shared with all clients by Friday.

Are your services up and running now?

From the last quote, it was said that the report would be shared with all clients by that Friday, which would have been 2 May.
Also looked around the site a couple times since for same, but nothing has been published there either.

Will there be follow through or is each customer expected to open a ticket to request it?

Domain/DNS/Web Hosting with Absolute Hosting, with email hosted by Microsoft, and nothing is going in or out at the moment. No errors, but no delivery either.

Also tried accessing the website from MTN and not working.

The fault has been identified and engineers are on route to identify / resolve.

We’re still waiting on confirmation, at the moment we suspect physical break in connectivity in to dc.

We’ll post updates as soon as possible.

Interesting, Exchange is not helping in this case

Thank you @Sundstromenator

Updates are being posted in real time on the group for those that may have missed the links in the footer of our emails.

Since that same email footer includes this MyBB forum thread, having those same real-time updates here would be great.

Curious that the industry standard Network Status page is, for AH, locked behind Client Area login, given that the Client Area isn't accessible during these outages.

There is no way to join WhatsApp channels without accepting a new WhatsApp "Channel Terms" and Privacy Policy.. not interested in giving them more consent for our data.

Is there somewhere that the rest of customers, who don't want to grant Facebook further consent to mine their data, can see these real-time outage updates?

So according to the WhatsApp channel, there is a fibre break but shouldn't a data center environment have diverse fibre routes and one fibre cable should not take down everything ?

Edit: Thought so, is unacceptable that everything breaks cause of one fibre cable break

Guess it likely will only come back at night or tomorrow as the ETA is still unknown. Afternoon wasted

I can post the updates on here if anyone wants

So if the link between Seacom and NAPAfrica is down, if AH announce prefixes to a temporary upstream like Liquid or Metrofibre etc then this should temporarily resolve the issue till the Fibre link between Seacom and NAPAfrica is repaired?

The outage on 29/30 April I could get away with to the higher ups because it was on a Saturday/Sunday and hardly anyone noticed. But a multi-hour outage at 1pm on a busy Thursday afternoon has now got me scrambling to explain to our customers, our shareholders and our directors what is going on and making me personally look bad for choosing Absolute Hosting. Not to mention we are now dusting off our disaster recovery plan to restore the offline services to an alternative hosting provider. Don't get me wrong, I understand these things happen. But 2 major outages in the space of a month is not a good look.

@Jade @ Absolute Hosting I have several friends who use you guys, and some mentioned that they haven't received feedback to date (this was about a week ago). It led me to asking others for the feedback so I could pass it on, but it turns out NONE of them received feedback, whether they're running a blog or the website for a company with 100+ staff. You might want to look into this.
