Is anyone else mining? I'm a noob.

Important to realize what Nicehash Miner is and does, vs. mining coin yourself.

At no time do you hold any currentcy for yourself using NHM. All you do is sell your hashing power, that's it. You get paid for that, and nothing else.

Mining coin is arguably more flexible in terms of reward, and if your goal is to get and hold a specific coin based on speculation of what the future value will be, then by no means is Nicehash Miner going to give that to you.

Personally, I like NHM, and use it most of the time. I would generally mine enough to make my quota for pay out, and if there is any other coin I'm interested in, I will mine this once I know I'm getting paid by NHM. For example, I'm currently throwing all my hashing power to mine Sia coin, seeing as I've made enough with NHM to get my "tip" with the next pay out schedule.

Short of trading any sort of coin on an exchange, using NHM is the easiest way to get a piece of the pie (for now).

Ahh thanks very much. So basically just selling the use of my GPU.

Now you see for example: I don't know how to use my hashing power to mine Sia coin, or any coin in fact. How do I go about this?

Is using NiceHash actually a good idea? I've been using it for the last 3 days and pulled in 20USD but I feel like I could make more doing it myself? I'm really a total noob at this. Can someone give me some direction? I would greatly appreciate it :)

Maybe try Minergate , AEON, BCN, ETC, XMR.

How often do you guys transfer funds from say "Luno" to a local bank account ... with charges involved, I suppose you don't want to do this on a weekly basis ??

1070's are getting 30 minimum... Although iirc the RX480 can get to 29 with a modded bios (which on a primary/gaming PC you probably don't want to do)

I only get about 26MH on my 1070. Is 30 what you get with clocking / modding ?

I get 31.5mh/s with a slight OC on my R9 390 8GB MSI card. Stock it sits at 29. Pretty good card and should have a long shelf-life considering the DAG keeps growing

This was just the thread I was looking for. ''Need advice for a GTX 960 card. I DLd Afterburner to OC the card (first time)

Tried to increase memory clock and click apply it just reverts back to normal, i also try to underclock the core but it doesnt work. HELP

a year ago, I built a low end gaming desktop, specs are as follows

Mboard: MSI H110M Gaming Board
CPU: Intel 6th Gen - i3-6100
Mem: 16GB DDR4 2133 Ram
Disk: 128GB SSD
GPU: Palit GeForce GTX 960 4GB

I dont use this PC for gaming anymore, merely as a run of the mill all round PC for browsing and work.

I though I would put this setup to mine crypo via NiceHash, as this thread suggests.

I am getting the following

Rate 0.42070 mBTC/Day
1.07 USD/Day

I also have R 10 000 laying around and thought, why not experiment.

So questions:

1. Does my board allow having 2 or more GPU's
2. Do you recommend i use the R10K to buy a GTX 1080 and only mine with one card?
3. What setup is best for a person in my situation with an average PC?

Extreme noob here so apologies, I have tried googling but I have no idea what SLi or ASIC is

1. Your PC only has one PCi-e x16 slot, you need to buy a PCI-e riser card to connect your other card to.
2. Yes....but where are you going to buy it, no-one in the country has stock
3. What power supply do you have, you didn't mention that. Whether you'll be able to run both the 1080 and the 960 is only limited by how much power you have available.

I have the following

Antec 500w VP500C

I see that Takealot has a few 1080s and I'm traveling to Australia next month. Might buy it there.

Best PCI Eriser to purchase?

Hmm, using that PSU with both cards will be cutting it very close, so I'd rather upgrade.

Example riser, but you should get this in Aus as it will definitely be cheaper over there https://www.leetpro.co.za/shop/mining/pre-order-powered-riser-1x-16x-large-new-supplier-eta-6-june/

Thanks for taking the time to explain.

Any idea about my post about OC my current card, the GTX960. Using Afterburner and ThunderMaster I am unable to understand how it works, cannot increase my memory clock at all and decreasing power by even 5% sees a drop from 13.xx hashes per second to around 12.9. is that noticeable for the power decrease or not?
