Is Botswana an option?

Botswana is the stablest economy in Africa and has been for years.

My in-Laws live there and they're very happy.
It's a lot better then SA in some regards but they don't have many of the luxuries we take for granted and it's still an African country so don't expect any governmental department to get anything done in a hurry.

That being said, it's definitely safer then SA.

I think most of the Zim farmers went to Zambia and Mozambique IIRC. It's like you say, there definitely are other options available for people that love Africa. Mozambique is a beautiful country but I'm reluctant to go that route because of the language barrier (Portugese) as well as the fact that they are far less developed than Botswana.

High Aids infection rate just means you don't stick your willy in every orifice you can find.
Abstinence and Restraint remains the single best way of dealing with Aids.

Well for starters their Internet is less stable then ours.
Also certain brands of food and so forth have to be bought in SA and brought back.
They're not exactly bursting with shopping malls.

AFAIK... Botswana is develpoing well, and into the right direction but it has nowhere near the great infrastructure, telecoumunications, and geographical location (yes, I actually like looking at green plants )

South Africa has all the modern things that we are used to but they are going. Better to leave the continent. If the most powerful country in Africa is on its knees, pack up, you go nowhere to go but the dirt

its a cool country, just gets extremely hot at times and the city isn't as large as JHB

I quite enjoyed Gaberone, the people there were uber friendly and I liked chatting with them! To say that it gets extremely hot is an understatement, it's goddamned roasting, I could'nt handle the direct sunlight, had to be in the shade or mah head woulda fried!~

My brother in law works there as an engineer, OK the guys stuck in the bush but every so often they venture out and he says people are friendly and far less militant but also extremely lazy, thing is "whitey" sets everything up that side and then new guvment comes into play like Namibia and "whitey's" hard work gets taken over.

Namibia run under Sam Nujoma was ok, the new guy is getting rid if whites and replacing them with black people and things are starting to turn to krap already, i go there on holiday every year, not again - the place is turning to krap, roads are falling apart and Namibia had good roads, "repsresentatives of the poor driving flashy german cars" is a first sign things are going downhill.

Chap at border post that the correct form to address the president in conversation is "His Highly Honourable President Hayifenko" if you just address him by his first name you will get arrested? Another sign a country is on it's way down
