I was just wondering about this, there website has been gone for some
time now, and I know Cybersmart took over all their clients, but the call
center number 0861 BRANDED is still valid.

I remember last year sometime, there was an incident where my e-mail
went down for 2 days as a result of Branded Internet not renewing the
domain (It got suspended).

When I spoke with a consultant, they couldn't tell me anything, so I
spoke to the "Supervisor" who was very rude and told me it was an
accounting issue with UniforumSA. So I promptly contacted Uniforum
who told me they had sent out numerous notices and Branded Internet,
and, while laughing at the crap that Branded Internet had fed me, told
me they had most certainly not made the payment.

Anyway, when I confronted the Branded Internet supervisor about this,
he got angry and raised his voice saying, "What is it you actually want?"
I replied "An explanation as to how something like this could happen."
He then told me they were working on a Newsletter which will explain
everything. Of course, the "Newsletter" in question never actually
materialized.

Anyways, that's my story, but my actual question is just, is Branded
Internet completely dead or do they still somehow exist?

Also, if anyone knows, what REALLY happened to them?

Uh... That explains it. :o
I was trying to access http://www.brandedinternet.co.za/ which results in a "Forbidden" Response.

But why did Cybersmart take over Branded Internet's Incredible Connection Users then?

And why did Branded Internet "forget" to renew the www.connect.co.za domain until the
very last minute?

Yup Cybersmart has taken over all incredible connection's vouchers. You are NOT able to retrieve the voucher on the connect.co.za website at all and a call to the contact center simply say they do not deal with it anymore and that you must phone cybersmart.

I did phone and they hooked me up with 60GB [10GB x 6 months]free [after 6 months the account costs a mere R99 a month if i wish to keep it] and my voucher was just for 30 or so gigs.

I must say they were quite helpful.

You seem to be in bed with TRL, and you know about the dodgy dealings of this "BrandedInternet" lot as well.

I'm not in bed with TRL, I only use their seedbox service (as I've mentioned numerous times before). For my adsl requirements I'm happy with my Mweb uncapped account and Web Africa capped account. As for the Branded Internet name change, this was mentioned on their website. And no, I don't know about the dodgy dealings you are referring to. So I knew something that you didn't, what's the issue?
