Is gaming ram really worth the extra cash?? If your not planning of overclocking your rig? I heard from a few ppl that gaming ram is a waste of money if your not planning on overclocking is this true?

Personally I use standard ram for overclocking & gaming. Specs in sig.

No... If you want to push your dram far above 1066 then it might be worth it, if not then just get standard ram.

If u have enough cooling normal ram will be fine but when u play more than 10 hours in one go then yeah better to have gaming ram since they have been built for long hard work :D

If you're going for a world record in overclocking then maybe it's worth it. Otherwise "No it's not worth it"

Absolute Crap.

Low latency RAM ftw.

It's been tested and they found TINY, barely noticable real world differences between the performance of 667 / 800 / 1066 - low - high latency

Yes, listen to the man.

I'll never again buy budget RAM again.

After buying Kingston "value" RAM in my first "decent" PC and having had budget RAM in the majority of my work PC's, I haven't looked back once after buying Corsair RAM for my current PC. ;)

Everything loads how it should, there are no unexplained oddities or random BSOD's. I can't remember when last I reinstalled Windows XP and my PC runs like it did the day I got it. :)

I think those who have it, will tell you its worth it. Those that dont, will tell you its a waste.

Ya, and regardless of opinion, it's been proven that "gaming" ram as the marketing dept. would have you believe, is merely ram that can be OC'd a decent amount depending on brand and spec.

OC'ing ram results in minimal to no real world performance gains, that's just a fact. Go research the subject if you must contest this point.

well mre in a sense you are correct but your also wrong

maybe memory wont make much difference but overclocking your cpu further with better quality memory will result in real world performance gains in terms of your cpu

i know for sure i could get my q6600 to 4.0ghz stable if i had better quality ram that overclocked better

if you not overclocking your wasting money on performance ram because as mre pointed out there is like 1-3% gain

Oh right, it was unquestionably all the RAM's fault, ok then..

Normal Hynix ram will perform virtually the same as anything else.
