Is it brain drain or brain exchange?

By nature: SA property market != Zim property market.
Not now, and not by a long shot into the future.

I never said it was. But we were talking about a hypothetical future in which everything goes to hell. If that does happen they might not be that different.

No 'Brain Exchange' here

Now why isn't the forensic lab benifiting from the 'Brain Exchange" ?

'Dire' forensic labs let suspects walk

Omar said: "Staff shortages and staff retention at the laboratories are a challenge for management.

"These delays have led to many suspects, at times dangerous criminals, being set free. Sometimes the accused can be easily linked to the crime but they are let out back on the street to commit more crimes."

He said more experts were needed in the field and more adequate facilities needed to be made available.

More 'Brain Exchange' .................. NOT

Is this the brain exchange the article in the OP referred to ?

SAAF losing top technicians?

The SA Air Force has lost dozens of top engineers and technicians in just a few months, with ten senior technicians resigning in one week to go to Australia.

"Top management's attitude, the mass retrenchment of skilled technicians in the late 1990s and the hiring of inexperienced senior personnel are just some of the reasons. Crime and the cost of living are the secondary reasons why people want to leave."

SA needs teachers

Another short fall exposing the ludicrous brain exchange claim.

SA needs teachers

Cape Town - The country is facing a teacher shortfall, the national department of education told Parliament this week.

Schools are struggling to fill 62 000 vacant posts and efforts to plug the maths and science teacher gap by recruiting teachers from other countries like Zimbabwe is set to fail as fear of xenophobic attacks keeps qualified teachers away.

Deputy director-general Palesa Tyobeka said there were 16 950 underqualified teachers.

Just another BS article from "Be happy, don't worry" crew :D. Nothing new here. Patriots have to lie/distort the truth to protect their position because if they saw the whole truth, they wouldn't be defending their country!

I don't even think it is that. I think they are honestly just incapable of seeing clearly through the rose-tint.

More brain exchange needed here

The evidence of the "brain exchange" is everywhere to be seen.

Critical shortage of radiology staff causes long delays

PORT Elizabeth‘s Livingstone Hospital is facing critical staff shortages in the radiology unit, which have resulted to patients having long waits for cat scans.

Livingstone is one of three hospitals in the province which the department of health is planning to upgrade to world- class health facilities and specialised services.

The plan, which was slammed by the ANC because of lack of consultation with affected communities and for failing to go through party processes, is to go ahead according to the department.

“We also have bilateral agreements with Cuba and Tunisia to get doctors to come to work in South Africa.” - many South Africans need not apply because ..........

Brain drain students fleeing amid fears over crime, jobs
SOUTH Africa‘s crippling brain drain shows no sign of slowing, with four in every 10 students surveyed in the Eastern and Southern Cape saying they plan to leave the country for good once they have graduated.

Political infighting, government corruption, a struggling economy, increasingly violent crime and an uncertain employment future were all cited as major concerns driving students from diverse cultural, political and religious backgrounds to seek a better, more secure permanent life abroad.

Ha ha ... over one million skilled people leave, a few dozen or so return and then it's "see it's not all bad!!!" ... yeah right, whatever. Nice to use weasel words like "a percentage" ... I mean, even 0.0001% is "a percentage". You have to seriously be in la-la-land to be able to deny the obvious reality that people are fleeing en masse and skilled people (from anywhere) are not beating down the doors to get (back) in.

A LOT of the students in my class are leaving as soon as they qualify(medical field). One of them was held up last night again at a friends house when 7 guys stormed the house with guns. Luckily no one was injured.
I will stick it out for as long as i can, but if things do not improve then i will be forced to say bye bye SA. At least for a while.
