Hi Guys,

I tried casting the DSTV now app from android but as soon a cast the stream stops. I suspected that they developed it like this purposefully so that one cannot cast their streams. From a little Googling it seems as though this is the case...

Is there a way to make this work?

It's blocked. You can cast from Chrome running on PC with the Chromecast plugin for Chrome. You can then get the stream going and cast the specific tab in Chrome to the Chromecast.

Thanks, this is how I do it when streaming through the SS site. Guess I'll have to stick with this methdod. I was hoping I could use my phone

I think I need to invest in an NUC....

You can cast the screen... I tested it on Supersport last weekend.

Connect your Android device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast.
Open the Google Cast app .
In the top left corner, tap the navigation drawer .
Tap the Cast Screen button.
Select your Chromecast.

I got a friend who has one and says it doesn't work. But maybe his is just a piece of cheap s**t. But i don't see the diffs between this and a laptop/pc. I am trying to get away from using a PC because when you can cast from your phone, your phone becomes a remote and you don't have to get up to pause, change what you wanna watch etc.

Thanks. I was considering buying one of those HDMI converters

If all else fails you can get an app on your phone to control your PC/laptop. I know of a free app called mobile mouse that I used to use long ago

I have phoned DSTV several times to query this. They keep on telling me yes, this is a feature but they havent received training on support yet. So I tell them that it obviously isnt because there is no cast button in the app. Yet, the manual they read off when they try to guide me on how to cast (lol) says there should be a cast button top right? Any feedback DSTV? It is a schlepp having to cast from laptop all the time...

Here's something interesting, the ad for chromecast casting is only the android app. They do know that you can cast to a chromecast via an iPad too? Not everyone has Apple TV
