Is it possible to split a line's connection between connected users?

Hi

So just as the title says I just recently upgraded to a 4mb line.. So Whenever my Brother uses the internet and starts streaming he uses the whole line speed.. So it makes it next to impossible to access the internet.

So my question is..is it possible to split the connection between us... so that he gets 2mb and I get 2mb?

You need a firewall/router that allows QOS. Then just QOS by IP/Mac address.

My router only allows QOS by LAN connected devices and both of us are on WIFI

There will always be a hardware requirement (or netlimiter on his pc)

Use static IP's, specify yours and your brothers, split it 2048/2048 - Profit.

I don't have a menu item called Traffic Control

Then you need to do 1 of 2 things, Try newer firmware. Buy a newer router. As stated something has to manage the QOS.

Install on your brothers computer and limit him to 2MB.
