Is it really that bad in SA?

Lots of great eye opening posts. Thank you to all who contributed. I will definitely give it a lot more serious thought now...Much appreciated!!!
 
I get asked this question once a year by my brother, him & wifey's been in Switzerland for 12 years & he's fine with staying but she misses her family.

I tell him every time he's mad even considering it, given their lifestyle and all the crap going on here.

In case you've feel like a slighly boiled frog, we're not exactly in Kansas anymore Dorothy.

Had family over in Perth. There is a lake , woman pitches up on their own, go for walks 8:30Pm. Its definitely not crime free, but not the violence here. Obviously not all, but most places close to the cities.
You have cycling paths from one city to another. Here you go to a cycling park and you get bikejacked.

Quite happy here even amongst all the drama lamas.

Not going anywhere.

What does the ANC have to do with it?

He is quite right. We are a borderline first world country now.

Second world if such a thing ever existed.

Sort out the few issues and it will be a paradise.

I Would like to share this.

Apparently BCM has been rated the 2nd best metro in ZA. 2 days after the announcement and the entire metro is without water. 48hours now.

1st world my arse.

Those few issues being: rampant corruption, incompetence, doing things the African way and the ANC

It's a natural crisis akin to tornadoes and tsunamis ffs.

He is right though. More people are much better off than they were under the previous regime and some of it is no thanks to the ANC and rather a positive impact of the lifting of sanctions coupled with the opening up of opportunities for more people.

Sadly things have been regressing with corruption being allowed to run rampant since Zuma took over and his concerted effort to destroy the state's capacity to go after sophisticated crime.

Agreeable.

In 2012 engineers warned of screens on holding dam pumps failure and debris entering pumps.

Screens were replaced without removing debris and now impellers are ruined.

Holding damn is not functioning and the resevoirs have run dry.

No telemetey

No early warning

No water left in shops and no tankers to be seen anywhere.

I get your point regarding ANC and context. Apologies on that one however if you look at the scope of the users posts it does seem like it is a propoganda bot completely oblivious to the real world.
