Is Lasik worth it?

That's just old age. Your eyes have less ability to focus typically starts in your early 40s.

Yep. It's one of the things the doc warned me about before my op so I expected it to happen at some time. I actually got away with it longer than I expected

I couldnt get lasik due to a degenerative eye disease.
I had ICL's done and it was pretty life changing. They are removable and can be changed at a later stage as well.
Not sure on how much it would cost, as mine was a bit more of a complicated procedure and required rings placed on my eye to reshape it, and then a lens put on top afterwards, the lens was also non standard.

But from a vision perspective it has been fantastic

For sure. Not wearing spectacles or contact lenses is quite nice. Especially at night, I could not drive because of the glare.
The glare side effect you may still experience with LASIK. Had lasik 23 years ago. worth it. Eyes will deteriorate over time though.

Luckily I'm here for a good time, not for a long time!

If she had Lasik done this would not have happened....

Oh wait, can they tint your eyes as well?
What are the odds of loosing your eye in a car crash due to glasses vs complications arising when doing Lasik?

I was sent to an eye specialist by my optician about 18 months ago as she wasn't happy about something that she couldn't pinpoint.
Unfortunately I have glaucoma in my right eye, pressure and everything else was and still is normal,it actually baffles the specialist.
I was immediately put on chronic and have to see him every six months.
The initial tests cost in the region of R13,000.
Look after your eyes ladies and gents.

I have bad eyesight and am considering LASIK so that I can finally stop wearing glasses. Has anyone done it and is it worthwhile? Also, if you can suggest affordable places around JHB where I could possibly go, it would be appreciated. I just phoned a place who said I can expect to pay around R30-R40k. Is it possible to get it done for R15-20k?

My wife had this done last month. Wore glasses her whole life.

Total cost was R32k at JHB eye hospital. She highly recommends it.

Which doctor there?

So it was Dr Vagus I believe. Who does consultations at his office in Constantia Kloof and surgery at the eye hospital along beyers.

Wife was in and out of surgery in 20mins. Zero pain. Quick recovery. Next day her vision was already 20/20

Zero issues with the service received.

Consultation was 3k.

Yes of course...if you only do the one eye.

How does it affect your driver's license,if at all if it states that you wear glasses?

How much does Discovery cover for Lasik, if not zero cover?
