Is Lasik worth it?

All set to go in the next couple of days, will cost around R32k. I doubt I would have got it much cheaper unless I went abroad to somewhere like India to do it.

Lasik or PRK?

With Lasik I don't like the idea of cutting a C-shape flap in my cornea and increasing the risk of dry eye even though the healing process is quick, about 2 days.

With PRK the doc uses alcohol to scrape away the epithelium, the outermost layer of the cornea which heals in a few weeks but isn't as invasive since it doesn't cut away the flap? I don't care about the longer healing process and few weeks of pain as long as they are short term issues, not long term/permanent. Thoughts?

I'm -2.4 or something but terrified of someone messing with my eyes.

For sure. Not wearing spectacles or contact lenses is quite nice. Especially at night, I could not drive because of the glare.
You may not ever be able to drive at night after lasik that's one of the complications, plus permanent dry eye

Dr gave me 5 days off, but I ended up taking another 3 days.

Did you really need to take a day off or did you exploit the privilege? I'm a guy who usually only is out of action when i am physically unable to continue, lol.

I took additional days off as my eyes would not stop tearing infront of my pc screen.

I have other eye surgery 3 months prior aswell so my case could be different

Yeah, I suspect may need reading glasses in about ten years after the surgery but either way, I probably will never have to wear a prescription as strong as the one I have now ever again (I can't even see faces at close range without specs right now).

What procedure are you going to get? LASIK, PRK or SMILE?
