Hi all,

I bought a Canon 600D today. It smells and looks new. However, when I took some snaps the numbering started at 100-3933. Is this normal or has the camera been used? I paid the full price for the camera and don't want something that is used.

Thanks all

Thanks. Will try it out when I get home. I really hope that it is not used. Going to be an issue to return. I am not pleased spending 7k on something that is used...

The only people who are going to be able to tell you how many shutter actuations there have been are canon, aka cameratek in SA.

Name & shame the place you bought it from if it is found to have been used already.

I'd take it back if I were you, just pretend that you're an expert (fake it till you....well, till you get a new camera). Ask them to open up a few other cameras and show you the counters on them and compare.

I am in SA at the moment. I will name and shame only if I am sure it has been used. Will test the program out tomorrow and give feedback.

AFAIK that app hasnt worked since the days of the 40D but it will be interesting to learn otherwise.

Would seriously be so upset if this is not new. Saved up for ages for a semi-decent camera. The CPA does allow for one to take back something within 10 days right?

No, only if there is something wrong with it. Then they replace it immediately. After about 5 to 7 days , or longer at some shops, they will send it for repairs.

In this case it is applicable. He bought a NEW camera not a refurbished unit.

True if verified used, but I was responding to: "The CPA does allow for one to take back something within 10 days right?"

Isn't it 7 days....and only in South Africa, I got the idea that you bought it over seas...
