IS News Server down?

OK so which is a good International paid News Server.

Giganews ?
newshosting.com ?

I need to get something reliable as IS clearly don't want my business.
 
I found that these http://usenet-news.net/index1.php?url=get guys are the cheapest.
These accounts work like WA prepaid accounts.
If you want a monthly subscription with unmeterred usage you can try there sister company http://ngroups.net/, $14 for unmeterred usage.

There websites look basic but there service has been great so far and the speeds are also nice.

Just a question: Why would one pay for newsgroups if you can get it off the torrents? Is there a benefit, ie. speed, amount of stuff?
 
I think that all the most popular series always works ok,for me at least, its only the less popular stuff that takes a while to dl or are incomplete.
Pearljam: You get full line speed and there is also no uploading involved. At least we 384 users get full line speed.

It's been up and down like a whores draws recently for me... Overnight I managed to do 700+MB but today it's been glacial in it's speeds..

Evidently IS/Openweb arn't really keen on sorting out the issue, and seening as the 30gig local through Openweb is mostly used on my side for news group stuff, if the news group is not operational then whats the point?

MrBeep, you've always been very helpful with forumites questions about IS and their service, however on this issue everyone has been very tightlipped about the whole thing. Obviously it's not a few ppl having a problem, but widespread.

Someone, anyone, please either sort this out, or at least let us know what is going on.

Corrupted downloads are rare and there's no uploading.

easynews.com are excellent. Downloads via http or nntp and at full speed. As far as I can tell as many concurrent connections as your line can handle. You dont even need a news client.
 
surely though using a service like easynews.com is only viable with international bandwidth available?

kinda defeats the point when one episode of a show is either 300+ or 700+MB... I'm guessing you are on a higher cap, say 10GB, I'm just a poor boy and can only afford a 3GB/27 local...

Same here - the 27 odd GB local is a bit useless....

Where else can we get stuff in SA?
 
I suppose we could go down to the shops and *gasp* acutally buy/rent DVD's or watch the drivel on SABC/E or the slightly less moist offerings on DSTV?
 
has anyone tried the 384 uncapped for R799. it's still a bit expensive but i guess we have no choice
