does any body know whats actually up with the IS news server sine about the begining of the month its been workin like #$@$ for me i cant seem to get above 5kb and that's if im lucky i usualy now get about 1kb or so. before this month though the news server was workin like a dream i was getting constant 40kb ,So soes any 1 have any ideas about whats happening hey ?

Is it worth keeping our 4 meg lines? When do you guys think the news server will be up and runnning?

Doubt you'll be getting true 4MB speeds anytime soon.

*Hmm...If all these foos downgrade to slower lines - there will be more bandwith for me.*

Nah, it's a waste of money - I say drop the 4MB line! :p

Haha, cant downgrade up once u have upgraded, rather cancel then downgrade, btw wats the IS ftp??

Anybody knows what notice period for cancellation is for Imagine ISP? I've had enough of this.

Hi VJB

Our normal cancellation is 30 days, however, I will accept your cancellation up to the 20th of this month if you are still eager to move.

Guys - in general, ADSL is very location specific. There are so many different factors affecting access to certain locations (such as the IS news server) including the Telkom level, to where on the IPC you connect into IS' infrastructure, etc. This is one of the major weaknesses of broadband - it is a 'shared' service, with so many different routes and operators involved - making it almost impossible to track down specific problems. Thus some users experience excellent speeds, and others experience slow downs. And the situation and change.

But it doesn't make sense to leave IS because access to the News Server is slow - with SAIX you won't get ANY access. Plus with IS at least you can use your 30GB local on other local access.

To those experiencing slow speeds to the IS news server - please PM me your ADSL username if you are with Imagine. I will compile a report and take it up with IS. Perhaps we can at least get some answers from them. At least an ETA for speeds to improve.

Well done Imagine, glad to see a IS reseller trying to do something!

My speed for most of this morning have been around 20Kb/s - which is a massive improvement over the previous 1Kb/s.

Looks like it's starting to improve.

Well my question will be, why was it that i could access the news server no problem and download at full speed 2 months ago and now i cant?? I haven't moved, also havent changed ISP(yet). So what is causing me to all of a sudden (since 2 months ago) not be able to download at full speed?? What changed where?? Does the ISP regulate where on the IPC you connect to, so that certain people just get crappy service for the next couple of months and then after that you swap it around so that others get the crappy service??

I thank you for responding but maybe you can clear the above questions of mine.
