IS News Server down?

I would be happy if i got even jst 20k... so long as it was all the time....... Not 5min up 10min down 1min up 1000000000min down :/ ITs quite irritating..
 
mines doppd down to 20kbps :mad:

edit: now improved to 40kbps :o

edit: now dropped to 25kbps :mad:

isnt : news.is.co.za the same as newz.isnet.net

and news.isdsl.net completely different?


Edit: actually im getting unable to connect errors not connection timeouts.....:p
 
Ag i donno...... newz.isnet.net is running fine for me at the moment...
Ethon.isdsl.net is NOWERE!!!

To clarify I'm also getting "unable to connect" errors from news.isdsl.net. news.is.co.za seems to be behaving though.
 
It's because the one news server is down, so both are routing to the same ip address. Since your client is probably trying 8 connections, and the news server only allows 4, it's rejecting you from connecting.
 
They're just aliases for the same servers. Best thing to do is enter the actual IP's instead of the host name. At least this guarentee's that you won't get stuffed around everytime IS decides to move the aliases around back and forth between the IP's.
 
So how many gb's are you averaging per day?
