How much international bandwidth dies IS have before Seacom with SAT3 and Satellite ?
Thats a more positive article and the 44% decrease in Hetzners costs

Yea baby Bring IS and Seacom together and make some good old network babies that will benefit all of use .(users)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a lot of the cheap ADSL packages we have available from people like Cybersmart, Openweb etc. is because they're reselling IS (international) bandwidth, which they're getting at better prices than Telkom.
So, once IS finishes testing, we should be seeing some good pricing.

That said, IS, stop sandbagging. You know the cost already, so you know what you can sell the bandwidth for. Just tell us. Then we can make sure our ISPs don't ***** us over.

Well as I am sure you saw on other parts of MyBB, the Bandwidth charges only account for 25% of the cost, so even if they push that down by like 90% it will still be minimal. I personally am lookin for larger caps so I can get rid of some of my Telkom Accounts ...
My kids aged 7 & 10 use 3GB on their own !!!

I don't think Line prices will come down this infrastructure is still owned by telkom and they are not bringing there prices down any time soon the other options from Neotel and so on are wireless which in my opinion are not very good

The thing Seacom will make a big difference on is caps we could be moving to an affordable uncapped service or a really high cap like 30 gigs or something

Latency will generally be unaffected

The only issue is that we are going to be waiting for about a year before any of this starts filtering down to the market

As far as big players on Seacom we have a few
MTN Business which now ownes the Verizon network
Vodacom ISP they are trying to break into the market in a big way
Neotel They can start supplying there own international bandwidth and not be squeezed by Telkom
IS

Ah Yes 30 gig caps like we had when ADSL first started in SA... WOW We are moving forward... Or backwards... Which is good in some way ;)

I think openweb's 384k uncapped for R599 is a bargain!

You could do 96,76 GB in a month if you are diligent! 8-)

That works out to about 0,62 cents per meg!

Only problem with that is, you can't do anything else on the line... 4 meg works great... I can game and download, but on 384 your pretty much JUST downloading or just doing something else... Which sucks... Not really broadband in my opinion ;)
