IS testing SEACOM

This is good news – when more anchor tenants come online on SEACOM the effect of the cable will be felt in the market. There were price reductions already, but the more competition we see the better prices will become.

Reported for double posting :P

I hope that more and more tenants will drive prices down. I have been a bit let down by all the hype that has been created. But I am still hopeful.

Big news.

Few have the funds to buy capacity like IS does. They could play a big role in bringing us seacom's benefits in the short term. Hopefully they will do exactly that.

The problem arrises because ISP's have to invest a large amount of capital that only a few of the major players can actually afford. I think very few ISP's will purchase bandwidth direct from Seacom, and most will go through a reseller like IS, or Neotel.

well what price reductions and how long does the testing phase take cos it should have been tested like yesterday aldready

Hope they do not pull a 'Telkom' and take two years with the testing phase. ;)

IS still have to pay the ridiculous IPConnect fee to Telkom. I think there may be some decrease in price, but nothing drastic. They may however offer larger caps, which I guess is sort of the equivalent of a price decrease. Come on IS!

well look at open web they have some nice specials coming out next month well in august at least can't wait for them R599 for uncapped 384K
