Hey don't be like that, stating obvious facts make it seem like you're racially profiling... I mean they had a horrible healthcare before, not exactly the most hygienic place in the world and they are densely populated... Things a virus loves.

Yeah. However I agree 100% with SANTACO when last week already the indicated that they give zero ****s. We all need to do so at this point.

We do, but apparently the chicken littles and end is nigh guys rule the roost. Remember when it hits close to home you're going to know, you're going to wish for harsher lockdowns. It's hit me close to home since wave 1, yet I'm still like cest la vi, we need to move on. Life is life, it's not like I've not lost people close to me through other means.
I've lost friends to ODs, to car accidents, one even died as he was knocked over while putting petrol in his car in the emergency lane, it was foggy and the other driver thought it was a bright idea to drive in the emergency lane, cancer, flu and a lot of other things. Have I closed myself off from those things?

Well apparently it is childish behavior for an adult to want to be free and engage in normal economic and social intercourse.

Amazing how few people actually see the bigger picture here, obviously if the government just banned people from riding in taxis that would solve the problem because taxis are the real vector.

Thats against ANC policy, because it come from the West, unless, it is from their master in China, then it is good science. This is just to show that they doing something, no point really, the horse as already bolted.

We as South Africans are probably on our second unknown infection already, some might be on our 3rd. I.e. no symptoms or very mild, so never got tested.

So if I recall, the definition of stupidity is to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result? Guess once enough people no longer have a job, that will be a different result, right? Lockdown was meant to get the hospitals ready, I fully understand the booze thing, we have a bunch of reprobates that can't control themselves and end up in the hospital, but 1 year on we should have more beds ready, or even hospitals that can be mothballed until the next looming wave, but that means maintenance and look how well the government does that.

Oh no it's going to magically show that the move to level 4 worked, as they waited till pretty much the crest of the wave to start hitting it's peak. Like January lockdown, besides the first wave which we were already at level 3 by that time.
 
If, as some people regularly claim, South Africans just ignore restrictions then restrictions clearly serve no useful purpose and can only serve to cause harm. Therefore all those who claim no-one complies anyway should be the most vigorously opposed to this latest round of government stupidity.

Every country has some minority of drug users who go overboard. But on the other hand data from 2020 showed very clearly that injuries were hardly exclusively related to alcohol. It didn't even look like most. Experience also shows that people switch to the black market, so all they're really doing is enriching the sellers and harming everyone else. Ultimately though it simply doesn't matter whether it reduces injuries because there is no leeway for further economic damage.
 
Other: Its the right move 3 weeks too late, so still think it will somewhat help now, but could have prevented a lot of issues had they done it sooner.
 
Why not allow outdoor restaurants? Yesterday we had a lovely lunch in the sun outside. No risk, fresh air.

When it comes to lockdowns there's always going to be a debate around economy vs health...

It will always be a debate around economy vs health.

But in this country its muddied by the fact that our government fscked around with the vaccinations for so damned long, and have absolutely screwed the pooch on bolstering the health sector over the last year.
