I have noticed more and more each day that my new Samsung LA40C5330 has some pretty terrible backlight bleeding.

Started paying Assassins Creed BH again last night and with the brightness on 50% the bleed is insane. On a black screen it comes through mostly on the right, but in game especially AC the top is very cloudy and bright.

Below is a pic I took of it in game. What you guys think, is this acceptable?

I had the same TV before it was stolen and it never was this bad, actually don't remember any bleed at all.

Looks pretty bad to me. Could also be an issue with settings or whatever (game and/or TV), I guess.

That doesn't look right. Hopefully other users can give feedback. Maybe you can return it under warranty. I think the warranty does cover excessive bleeding.

Yeah its really not cool, it is especially bad in games, I have tried every setting I can, only thing that works is dropping the brightness down to below 40, which really shouldn't be necessary. TV it is a less noticeable, as I have set the brightness down to 43.

I have only had this for about a week and a half, have contacted the store and the guy said he will see what he can do, but he aint got stock :(

Guy sounds useless - I'd rather contact Samsung myself. :)

Thought you were getting plasma to be honest. :D

He has been pretty helpful so far, with my insurance claim and all so I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

I probably still am gettting one, that's for my room :)

Fair enough. ;) You'll have faster turnaround if you contact them yourself, instead or possibly waiting for him to contact them himself.

Either way, good luck and let us know!

Ouch - that's not cool ...

Take a picture with the game off (simple black back ground)?

I've got as well - but it's not noticeable unless it's on a black background.

There is a pic there, I just switched to a unused DSTV channel.

Even the wife notices it now, then I know there is a SERIOUS problem with it :p

Thinking of swapping it out for the 50" plasma.

Rofl @ wife. :D

Well at least with the plasma there won't be any light bleeding... :D
