no, no, 56k modem = ~5K
so my 40K is about 8 times faster than 56k modem at the mo
we SHOULD get 127K tho

Yeah. I wasn't sure whether you were talking kbps or kB/s

56.6 kpbs = 6.91kB/s

40kB/s = ~328kbps
 
Not sure if it's working for the rest of you now, but I just downloaded a 10mb file at between 1.22mbps and 1.31mbps according to DU meter.

Last test I made this morning at around 8am was in the region of 1.40mbps.

Could not test between 8am and now as I had to go out.

Telkom test below is from a few min ago.

* Download time: 3.562 seconds
* Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
* Estimated line speed: 1145.4 (kilobits/second)
* Estimated line speed: 140.4 (kiloBytes/second)

Forgot to add that I get timeout still accessing webpages and need to refresh to get to them most about 60% of the time. I thought that it could be because of the cap but it is still doing it uncapped. :(

My speeds were looking good when I went home for lunch. But then... I never got capped.

But I'd have thought capping was software controlled. I'm sure WBS have got better things to do with their lives than manually throttling and unthrottling their clients...

Better things like getting their house in order and letting us use SMTP servers other then thiers.

Well after browsing their helpdesk site and network status, I did realise that they are outsourcing most of their services by fusion reactor.
So my question is what kind of communication does the helpdesk have with Fusion Reactor?

This doesn't bode well. When I get home that UTD better be moving at decent speed again.
 
looks like wbs got semi decent things happening for 6 months, sentech caved in 3 months. I suspect wbs's client base to halve by end of this year if nothing happens

Seems all you need to do is phone them and tell them about the situation...
miraculously your connection will suddenly jump back to normal speeds.
Me thinks the bm is now on manual.
Try it, it worked for me earlier on today.
 
How is that dialup erm iburst now Slimothy? Im using dialup erm adsl atm and man its just so much better hey.. whahahaha this is hilarious.

anyways on topic the problem seemed to sort itself out this side around 4, but thats too late, i'm gonna go get drunk now, something i reccomend to anyone having wireless blues tonight
