No, 80% of it's citizens are already in SA, so how can it be overpopulated?

Is Zimbabwe overpopulated?

No. Just like many other African nations they just can't sustain their populations because of incompetence. It's BS IMO to blame overpopulation for African or Zimbo poverty. They've got 10mill odd people there. That's less than many European countries and they're not suffering from overpopulation:rolleyes:

Reporter: what are your plans for Zimbabwe
Mugabe: To outlaw all opposition and create a 1 party state

Ricard,
If u ask me, i will say ZIM will be better off without MUGABE, i dont want to believe that the whole lots of ZIM citizens cant do better than MUGGY. He is old and obviously selfish and more worrisome he has lost his balance. ZIM needs a fresh intellegent and mor focussed leader.MUGGY should just go, if he loves ZIM so much he should let go.

*smells a rat, pertaining to a member posting in this thread, but fears the wrath of infraction!* Anyway. How can Zim be called overpopulated? Japan has WAY more people and they seem to cope fine. It's just more excuses for incompetence, or, as I like to call it: complete idiocy that is the result of some sewage leaking into the gene pool

Pure icomptence

Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has approved new controversial legislation that allows the take over of public companies and businesses.

The law's been signed ahead of presidential and parliamentary elections later this month.

The Indiginisation and Economic Bill was passed by parliament last October, but it has taken Mugabe until now to approve it.

Under the new legislation white owned and foreign companies will now be forced to hand over 51% of their share to black Zimbabwean’s.

Critics say this is likely to scare away the foreign investment Zimbabwe so desperately needs.
More good work, well done Bob, you continue to impress with your incompetence...

Why did I post this question?

Myself and a friend were discussion the term overpopulation and its meaning. I told him to look it up on Wikipedia as I am of the opinion that Zimbabwe is overpopulated. The people cannot access the natural resources effectively at the current population level and are running into problems I said.

My friend told me, no, overpopulation is about space. Too many people in too a tiny space. He mentioned China and Japan as examples. I said people in China have effective access to resources even if they are many people in certain geographic space.

I said efficiency is a key variable that determines overpopulation. China may have a lot of people, but they are increasingly able to feed, house and provide water and employment to those people. Thus they are not overpopulated. They have high density, but they are NOT overpopulated.

With regard to Japan, I said that Japan has a policy that limits foreign labor. Their population is aging and there is work that needs doing with no people to do it. At least that is what I understand from reading around on the topic and watching news. They cannot possibly be overpopulated if they have access to food, water, and housing and there is less demand for employment. They are also densely populated but not over populated.

Zimbabwe has lost a key driver in its economy, being efficient farmers. There are no qualified farmers replacing them on scale and thus their food production and economic prosperity has been hammered.

This will not be rectified in the foreseeable future without an invitation for displaced farmers to return or new skilled farmers to take their place. I think this is unlikely to happen and the populace is now too large for the food supply.

In my opinion Zimbabwe has become overpopulated after the white farmers were displaced and thousands of whites left. In my opinion it is not the number of people in relation to the amount of resources that determines over population but the amount of access people have to those resources. It is no use being surrounded by resources you cannot access.

Anybody follow?

In short I am of the opinion that Zimbabwe is over populated.

Wikipedia says North America is the most overpopulated continent on Earth, Africa the least. I can agree that Africa on average can be the least over populated. I however don't understand how North America can be at the top of the list.
