Isoftnet 30 Gb UPDATED - + TELKOM INFO !!!!

Hi All,

Just a word. Heard from management this morning that we have as of immediate effect re-structured our 30 Gb ADSL Package.

As of this morning, our 30 Gb ADSL packge is now R500 ex vat ( R 570 inc vat for those that dont have a calculator :))

Just as to why we have done this and been forced to do away with our uncapped offering.

It has emerged from Telkom that No ISP on their backbone may sell an uncapped offering.
Any subscribers account is capped at 30 Gb for the month. That is to say, if you hit 30 Gb on the saix radius, you get disconnected. That is it, no more. Further more , we have confirmation from telkom that the small account (3 Gb) is as per always. IE : capped internationally at 3 Gb, NOT CAPPED LOCALLY after that.

Telkom are still deciding if they will market any different sized packages. ie. 6,9, 12 etc. But so far it does not seem to be the case.
Looks like we will all still be stuck with the 3 Gb account and multiples of it to a max of 30 Gb.

Any questions or queries , email [email protected]

Thanks

Hi Thefly, good to hear from you

Im happy that you rechecked the 30gig account pricing and ill get back to you guys after deciding which route to take :)

come guys why dont u rip into this company for saying they offer uncapped then dropping to 30 gig?

Killadoob

Oi ! be reasonable.

We tried to do something good, and then telkom came and shut us down.

But rip into us if you want. There is NOTHING we can do about it. Blame telkom if anything.

killadoob - cause they never had contracts, they actually add more value to whats going on, re: this actual post of information from telkom regarding capping and they told everyone that the uncapped is till time changes, whenever that is.

All and all, they didnt tricked me or anyone else into any offering.

well clipse this is the same case dude

dont worry firefly i couldnt care either way its just weird how things happen on this forum lol

one minute they are branding a company a liar same thing happens and everyone is happy they where honest kinda funny to me

they never made anyone pay the same amount for uncapped when telkom changed their mind about allyoucaneat im positive there isnt anyone out there still paying off their uncapped allyoucaneat account is there.

so your agruement is not correct to put it nicely

killadoob - its completely different dude, please refer to everything I said..

Isoft also up-front explained WHY, and how this happened. AYCE just remained mum on the topic.

I think the lesson all isp's/resellers should heed is dont offer what you cant deliver. IMO the buck stops where the buck stops so whoever takes my money also takes my grief as well as my accolades.

On that note I'm not switching ISPs until announcements are made re the restructuring, and then only after the isp's have made their offerings known.

I only pray that hellkom is not going to decide tomorrow that 30GB account is too much, and restrict the offerings to 5 or 10 GB ...

Word in, we have decided to cap all users to 500MB local and 150MB international. The reason for this is directly a result from lowering our adsl rental fees. We trust everyone will be happy with this move, as our statistics show, the average user use only 100mb per month. If you feel like buying more 500MB local accounts, it can be arranged within 365days(depending on it being a leap year or not, if its a leap year.. Add 14days) from contacting our helldesk. Prices for increments as follow:

500MB increase per year = R6500 (cheaper than our competitors - Source: Hellkom Times)
1000MB increase per year = R9000 (Saving of R4000, boosting the economy tremendously - Source: Hellkom Times)

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Our first priority will always be our clients. Back in the beginning of March we informed our users about the 30GB. We gave our users the opportunity to opt out of the contract without any cost to them and also get a FULL refund or continue under the new terms. Very few users elected to opt out because they saw the value of R480 per month for 30GB (that they still get today).

That letter was published here on this forum too.

As a company, we have a non-disclosure agreement with Telkom. I'm sure that is standard practice with Telkom and will affect other ISPs too. Therefore certain questions will have to stay mum until Telkom makes an annoucement.

Why does everyone want to take a dig at the isps? It seems like AYCE did all they could after telkom changed their offerings, same goes for all the other ISPs. I mean, if they offer to cancel the contract and give you your money back, whats the big deal?

I'm glad there are more ISPs offering 30 Gigs. Its nice to have options.

To Thefly, the isofnet website is not very informative regarding the packages you are offering. Maybe it needs an update?

Thanks for the comments Landar. We are aware of the site not offering enough info. We decided to hold off the redesign until telkom became clear with us what we were and werent allowed to do. We held off re-design because we dont do the design, we out-sourced it (we are busy lil sysadmin and dont have time to potter in html).

Thus a new design will be up shortly with alot more into and useful tips.

Genuine? Uncapped local remains unaffected for August at least?

Despite your protestations to the contrary that your clients are your first priority, you did not see your way clear to informing prospective clients as to exactly why you insisted on a contractual arrangement in the first place, despite being asked to do so - a not unreasonable request, and now more than ever. You would've built customer loyalty irrespective of the price through up-front transparency, instead of trying to lock-in customers via contractual arrangements, if that was indeed the intention. I also regard it as morally indefensible for you to have offered test accounts to prospective clients, instead of answering a perfectly reasonable question concerning the need for a contractual arrangement, as you in fact did with me. It is notable that to date you have still not provided any sort of explanation to this forum for your contract. For those reasons you will not be regarded with much esteem in the eyes of most members of this forum (with the notable exception of the 'doob).

mbs, What about the Terms bothers you? We have been giving test accounts out on merit. In the beginning of March 2005 Antowan wrote a review that was published in this forum and he was using a test account.

Your response is disingenious - neither I nor most forumites are interested in your contract terms, but merely a response as to why you see the need for a contract in the first place. At the time of Antowan's review, this self-same issue was pointed out to you, which you chose to ignore then, as you are doing now. As you do not seem to have the capability nor common courtesy to respond appropriately - for heaven's sake, I've already said quite clearly that offering 'test accounts' is morally indefensible in the face of not divulging the reasons for contractual lock-in - this response is my last posting on this issue. Members of this forum may draw their own conclusions...
