I am considering subscribing to a Telkom LTE deal. R199 for 3GB/ month. I was informed by the sales lady that i will be able to use my own (uncapped) ISP on the Huawei B593 Router. I cannot find any literature to confirm this. Should I or shouldn't I go Telkom LTE?

No that is not how it works. With Telkom LTE you need to buy your data from Telkom Mobile. It does not work the same as ADSL when you have a adsl line with Telkom but use your own ISP.
LTE/3G and similar wireless technologies works differently. The router that you would be getting would be able to work with simcards from MTN/Vodacom/Cellc and Virgin Mobile but not uncapped adsl account.

It would be great if Telkom (or other NOs) made LTE options available for the last mile to ISPs but a compelling business case for Telkom would need to be made and we are battling enough to get Telkom (well some at Telkom and sadly the ISPs) the benefits of LLU
Shocking how little the TM sales people know. That person who informed the OP should be forcibly removed from the front line and sent back to boot camp.
To build on what cavedog posted, and to demystify what the TM sales person tried to tell the OP, I *think* he/she was alluding to the fact that their B593s-601 is unlocked and can run any carrier.
I really like the word "Carrier", while American, because it differentiates the distribution channel from an Internet Service Provider (ISP), or 'service provider'. To the masses this just causes confusion.
Carrier = cellular service companies
ISP= copper/fibre services (ADSL/VDSL/FTTH)
I'm a bit dumbfounded why the sales person would take this stance though, since his/her primary aim should be to sell TM data *along with* the device.
