Hi all

Im on the verge of starting an ISP. It should be up an running soon. We are trying to make dial-up prices dirt cheap and are still working on getting ADSL prices down a bit.

What I want to find out from everyone is what would a good catch phrase be. We are looking at a kind of "one stop" phrase and a "service" phrase. What would catch your attention more or is there anything else that might work.

Thanks alot
Cheers

Personally I'm not that interested in catch phrases etc. just give us high caps at low prices with good service and we'll be happy!!

Agreed. If you are interested in being any success in the ISP market, you will need to better than the rest. I.E

A) Cheaper than TelkomInternet for high usage international
B) Cheaper than OpenWeb for Local Access
C) Customer Support like WebAfrica, and their prepaid system.
D) Bandwidth rollover

Provide a better service, if you can offer me more bandwidth for cheaper than 2x TelkomInternet accounts, im moving over the day your ISP launches.

Slogan of sorts is important, but nowhere near as important as the actual prodcut you are selling.

Doubt that's possible with Telkom's anti-competitive practices, although at least in this case they're benefiting us! What do you end up paying per gig with those 2 accounts anyway? Roughly I mean.

I totally agree with you Syndyre.

I converted to 4Mbit 3 December, so will only have a good figure for that end of the month.

However I can give you the cost for the last two months what I paid

DSL 512
November 06 -> R16.30 per gig
December 06 -> R14.39 per gig

Ok because at the moment I'm paying R599 for 10 gigs with Axxess, almost 4 times what you pay per gig. Seems like I could probably get more bandwith for less with 2 x 2 gig TelkomInternet accounts @ R199 each. Thanks!

You can get 10GB for R249 with 1 TelkomInternet account no problem (in my experience anyways). Just get WebAfrica prepaid as a backup in the event something does go.

2GB accounts get capped at 6GB apparently, not really sure about those.

2x TelkomInternet will indeed no problem get you more than 10GB. As long as they cap with the same startegy as the last 8 months or so.

WebAfrica does have 10GB for R480 btw

Ok so the 3GB accounts are R249? Sorry the Telkom website's not very clear! Was going to change to WebAfrica but this looks like a better option, even with all the admin that Telkom involves!

Since when did offering a good level of customer service become an acceptable selling point? I expect it as a norm and so should everyone else.

The only acceptable selling point is low prices.

Amongst all my accounts (I also have 2 WA and a Openweb or two) I have a telkom internet one - I regularly use over 6gb and have yet to be capped.

Edited... Misread the post. Yes, as I said. they need to have it. I agree that cant be a true selling point.

I expect it too but often its not provided unfortunately, was just saying if they expect to sell they'd better offer it. There are some companies that offer exceptional service, beyond what would normally be considered good, that's particularly what I meant. :)
