I wonder who the genius was that figured it was a good idea to remove normal phone communication from the iStores.
One is unable to contact the sore of your choice directly, communication is only via a central call centre.
So, if you went into the Waterfront iStore & spoke to salesperson x, there is no way of contacting them again - unless you get in your car & drive through.

And dialing the call centre number on a weekend is hopeless. At 2pm you get a message "this office is closed . . . ." but in reality the store is open until 9pm.
Well done Core group, losing business this way, hand over fist.

I agree, I had to buy some Apple products for work, and I couldn't call the store that is 1km away (Fourways). The whole process was really frustrating as I had to make adjustments to the order a couple of times.

It's a complete and utter PITA. And not exactly the call-centre operator's fault, but really difficult to keep your cool at times. It's seen me go elsewhere for purchases before - it's really that off-putting.

I'm sure they thought it would be a good idea at the time, but it blows, quite frankly.

It reeks of elitism to me. When you want to call the local Merc dealership it's not a problem. The local numbers are there. The roadside emergency service has an 08 number but the other numbers are localised. However, Core seems to be different. They're so special, or rather their stores are so special, one cannot call in directly. They must be the Maybachs of the industry. W@nkers.

Except Apple supports represents French cars - expensive, limited and not guaranteed.

Samsung could be German with its ADH warranty. Jobs probably would have tried to patent that as well.

dont be knocking the maybach

a friends father has one of the very very few in this country, been in the monster twice - sweetest ride imaginable - gin place on wheels !

That's hardly knocking.

With the amount of calls they receive , the company would have to employ specific people in store just to answer the phone , and in a retail store that dosent seem practical , maybe the system isn't perfect but makes more sense to have a call center .

And yet everyone else has localised numbers. iStore must be a special snowflake.

And, the best is: twice i have contaced the central call center to establish if Centurion or Menlyn has a certain item in stock, before wasting time and money driving there, and i am still waiting for the call back. That was 2 months ago! K@k service.

So, if the call center does the job they are paid for, then, Yes, i agree, it is better to use that system. But they are useless!!!!! Giving iStore a bad name.

So far bought 2 laptops over the years from Clearwater. ( I bought them . Was not sold to me !!!!)
On the clear understanding that I got 2 top peoples emails before leaving the store.
That worked well for the niggly questions an old fart asks...
