Yep R1899 total, that breaks down into R500 for the device and R1399 because its an apple and we can charge what we want and you will pay it because we told you to.
No thanks. Will rather get a Creative stone. Pretty much the same but I get an SD slot in it and its about 2/3 the price.

In theory I agree completely...but there is something special about the iPod.
Ja, there's nothing quite like an iPod.. to sound like a complete fanboy. However, iTunes on the other hand leaves much to be desired.

Apple marketing got to you...but must admit owned three ipods (lost my last one a month ago
) and will buy one with a smile again, just cause I know what I'm paying for when I buy one...and the new nano has been @ the istore in menlyn for a month already .SARS (Government greed) and private sector greed. that's why.
Apple is not as cool as you think
They pay 17.5% VAT in the UK and its still cheaper. The UK has cut VAT to 15% from the 1st of Dec. It will be more cheaper then.

Yes very nice but as with all Apple product pricing...I rather just stick with my phone for mp3's :/ I never valued listening to music on the fly so highly but thats just me lol. In fact I don't value it high enough to even waste time setting it up on my phone

The accelerometer is a cool feature, and the rest is just software that could surely be added to the old one as well?
Seems the new one has an accelerometer and a curved back - WOW!!!!

Quick question about genius if you don't mind.

I had both, and yes the nano is just that more usable.
My iPod 3G (that's 3rd generation not UMTS) stays behind at home, so does my Creative Zen Vision, so does my 800by480 res screen Cowon A3. I now listen to music on my Sharp phone with it's Yamaha sound chip, the MP3 playback is really good. Convergence counts for something, sure I'll take along the A3 on the plane but to listen to music casually, while in the car

The screen and res is better than the 1st and 2nd gens.
