It’s pure genius

Screw Apple and their rubbish attitude towards South Africa. They launch their iPhone how many months after the rest of the world has it? I went with a far better Nokia handset anyways. Maybe they did me a favour. iPod - special? Please. Play around with a few other devices first before bringing the fanboisms.

The iPod shuffle is a "better buy", but R799 is a bit much for that too.
I'd still pay R400 for it.

That small screen on the nano just isn't worth the extra money.

Got an iPhone, but airlines really don't want u using it even on "airplane" mode. :(

Have they got to the genious level of playing mp3 yet, or still in stone ages of having to convert to their own k@k format!

Guess as they state "genious marketing"

iPods are like a fetish for some. It is like this babe that is tied down to a chair, bound and gaged, limited and perversely locked to its "owner".

While this might float some peoples boat I'd just go with a sexy girl that is already waiting in bed and I do not need to untie knots and what not. Afterwards she can go make me something to eat and clean the house.

Thats pretty much the analog for whats going on in real life. Locked down music playing hardware that does only that VS mobile devices that can do that with a lot more ease and many more.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will crush this like a little fruit bug.

haha one of the funniest posts I've seen. To a degree agree with you. But reason I'll get an ipod again, is because I already had one, thus I have a dockable hifi, a dock on my kitchen counter and one in the car. And the simplicity of just having plug in in my ipod where ever I go just simplifies my music experience, sure could just aswell just stream my music via mythtv aswell...but already got so used to doing it this way,and find it to work for me.

What I want is for car audio makers, and other audio device makes, to start including the OBEX-FTP profile for bluetooth. Car audio systems have bluetooth in most cases but it is only for the handsfree profile.

With OBEX-FTP they will be able to access the files on paired devices and play them. So for example if you have a phone with 8gb of music on it you won't need any cable or dock, the audio system will simply connect over FTP and play the files.

Once this is included in more audio devices we can get rid of docks and leave them for what they where intended for i.e. ships park next to them and skanky ho's stand on them.
