IT persons, study and work stream thread

Wireless device paradigm where instead of a designated frequency, the radio uses frequency bands which belong to others when the others are not using them. The radio listens (cognition) and then uses other entities' bands without causing interference to them (i.e. when they start transmitting, it then changes to someone else's band).

is that a hybrid of TDMA and FDMA?

Yes and no :) they are usually implemented using OFDMA (a variant of FDMA) over a wide band but with the sub-carriers/sub-channels interfering to the licensed users being disabled. As the users we are interfering may change at any time, the sub-channels we disable will also change with time.

I guess you could call it time-varying FDMA but that is grossly oversimplified as you have to be able to co-ordinate who uses which sub-channels and which ones to use when we have to jump because of interference.

Complete my National Certificate in Datametrics at UNISA (just got my certificate this morning).

Keen on doing a UNISA course as well. Is this the better courses offered by UNISA for IT professionals? How long did it take?

Currently have MCSA, MCITP, CCNA, Security+ and ITIL, all the courses I did was motivated by the company so it was required for the job. Got a few other niche certifications that require big bucks and company invite...

Good place then to ask this question I hope! ;)

I am solution designer for one of SA's banks. I would like to further my career and was wondering which course I could do to help? Any advice?

Shees lots of very qualified people here wonder how I got in the industry.

Anyway A+ N+ CCNA and one exam from an MCSE.

I do installation projects for an IT Outsourcing company. Which can include any of the following:

SBS, Exchange, DCs, file servers, BES Servers, IP Changes, VLANs, Routers, Hyper-V, MPLS, NAS Devices.

Basically if a client can dream it up I research plan and deploy.

That sounds pretty damn cool.

Apple Training recertification - Snow 101

Hi Guys,

I recently completed the Snow 101 OSX 10.6 exam as of the end of April 2011.

However now I see Lion (OSX 10.7) is due to be released in July - do Apple have a re certification policy like other vendors where you can take the upgrade for free if 90 days or less have passed since you took the initial (now defunct) exam?

Also I've heard that the re certification exam is merely a matter of doing an online exam through Apple which does not need to be done from a testing center but can indeed be done from your home or work - any truth in this?

Any ideas?
Thanks,
J

Dont think there is a re-cert process.
I did my ACTC a long long time ago. I dont even think it expires. I wouldnt bother with a re-cert anyways. not until a major release (IE 11.xx) is out
