My previous company only trained us out of necessity(staff member with the knowledge left). When the time came for me to leave and I was halfway through some training, I had to pay for it myself with my final salary from them.

Ever heard of mainframes (+-1960)? Speech recognition was already available in 1971.
I know about those huge computers that filled a room. What I meant was that there wont be many people experienced in what is required today due to the fast changing environment. So a person with 15 years and another with 25 years experience would be able to fulfil the same role at the same skill level. It is always nice to say that you worked with an Abacus though![]()
One met a guy aged 23 with 8 years IT experience...
Could he give references where he got this 8 years experience, and by reference I mean a previous employers?
Because most people that is really interest in IT started to program just after 10 and I can see how somebody can write a program that is useful at 15.
To be honest I could operate a dos command prompt before I could read and write English (I still can not do the formerand only realized later in life why my dad would not help me with this game called larry.exe.
