ITIL Certification

I am looking to gain an ITIL certification and I've found some places offering courses / training for this at a cost of course. The main site I found was https://www.torque-it.com/courses-certification/itil/certifications - Is there any way to self-learn and self-attain this and as such not have to pay thousands for the 3-day course?

Dude, what exactly are you looking for. ITIL just killed v3 effectively, so foundation v4 would be the way to go.

Most of the costs are the exams usually; not the course.

It’s stupidly expensive.

I would never pay for this crap out of my own pocket, let your company feed the cash cow.

Do you know what happens with current levels Practitioner?

Start all over again? Or carry on targeting Intermediate?

They will give you +- 2 years to get your 17 credits (ready for malc exam). If you pass, you're automatically v4 compliant. If you only have some of the intermediate qualifications, I strongly suggest getting to 17 credits and writing malc. Stay away from practitioner.

Practitioner is being split into the relevant levels, some falling within v4 foundation. Practitioner will no longer be available in v4

I’m on practitioner level now, so don’t have any credits.
