I have a smallish room, and its on the side of the house the SE or NW doesnt effect really... So I dont get a through draft

thats bad enough alone, but then I have my PC on... and that room turns into an oven. Even the LCD (Sammy T260) gives off quite a bit of heat, but I cant do anything about THAT!

what CAN I do to my PC do reduce the heat. I have 3 120mm fans, (1 in and 2 out) and a 80mm speed controlled NB fan and another 120mm on my CPU cooler. Got a mean cooler on the HD4890 toxic, works really well.

Ive been told to get water cooling, but that still is going to remove the heat from the components into my room?

right? :confused:

Honestly, airconditioning. Both you and you baby can be comfortable ;)
 
Your problem is that your room is an enclosed system, and the PC is a nice little heater. The cooler the pc = the hotter the room. Take some fans out of the PC and put them in your room walls? :p You need some kind of ventilation or air con, nothing to do with the PC. ;)

one of those aircons on the wall are about how much?? couple of grand? R10k?

maybe a single fan mounted on the window, sucking the air out... hmmm... :) that might be cheaper
 
a roof fan works pretty well - I paid 1k for a super stylish one (Logic) - comes with a remote to change the speeds and even turn the lights on/off - perfect for those "lets dim the lights" situations. no need to spend 10k IMO
 
I got a small 300 buck roof fan in my pc room, cools down the room very well. Sounds like it may snap off at any point and cut my head off but does the job :D.
 
Unless there's somewhere else for the air to vent to a fan won't help much. If it's so hot the ceiling fan is on 24/7 it chows a lot more elec than an aircon. It also sucks sleeping with air blowing on you.
 
It's better to have 2 fans blowing into the case and 1 extracting the heat. Another option is to add a HDD cooler and an exhaust PCI fan cooler. They do occupy a PCI slot though.
 
+1 for air-conditioning (about 3-4K) - seems to be the only sure fire way of keeping the room cool. Just don't get a R600 "air-cooler" as you'll find the metal parts start to rust after a while...
 
Split unit aircon is the only way to remove the heat.

I doubt the PC is to blame though. For 1 PC to have an effect you'd need to close windows + doors. More likely to be heat from the sun via roof.
 
Like HavocXphere said, the room is your problem. Maybe try Think-Pink in ceiling? Helps a lot with zinc roofs

this is annoying

gonna take a drive to game tomorrow and see what they have in the way of portable aircons

i posted anther thread in "off topic" and that seems to be quite a winner
 
Air conditioning would be my recommendation too. And yes, keep next to you a bucket with ice cream for 24/7 and you will be cheaper.

i've seen ads for a fully installed 12500 BTU split wall mount air con for around 4k

you can also shop around for the unit and buy that seperately, then get an aircon dude to install it, will charge u about a 600-1000 to install, if u buy the unit
 
You really won't need a big aircon, go for a tiny cheap one, seeing as you have a small room.

Reading the name of your thread, I'd have expected the first post to be: ..... so take off all your clothes.
 
Every watt of energy consumed by your PC is converted to heat. So a 450W PSU running at 100% generates 450W of heat. You need aircon, or an extractor fan to remove the hot air from your room....
