Hi All,

I have been trying to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS on IOS 4.2.1 with redsn0w_win_0.9.6b4 and redsn0w_win_0.9.6b6 on my Windows 7 laptop. When I try, the program gets to a point ( just after DFU mode), where it "stopped responding." I've tried a few times with the b6 as well, same result.

Some forums suggest I run it as administrator, which also does not work.

Has anyone experienced this problem and overcome it?

Thanks!

Hi, let me know if you come right, Bought my IPhone 3GS on IOS4.0 as factory unlocked from classifieds, but checked the 7 digit number and saw that it is a AT&T phone. Would also like to upgrade but scared I brick the phone. Jaillbroke the phone with jailbreakme.com. When I ran Tiny Umbrella I could only get SHSH for 4.2, so I am scared if I upgrade I cannot jailbreak or unlock I am without a phone. I will have to JBme2pwn 1st on the phone and then unlock with Redsnow.

Think I will stick with 4.0 can't afford a brick at this stage.

Run redsn0w.exe in administrator mode as well as in compatibility mode.

To run in compatibility mode:

1) Right click on the .exe
2) select properties
3) click the compatibility tab at the top of the window
4) check the 'run in compatibility mode' box
5) from the drop down box select windows 98/windows ME
6) Run redsn0w.exe

Hope this helps!

I have a joibroken iphone 4 on 4.1 and I have been keeping an eye in this situation. The current redsn0w jailbreaks are all in beta form and the developers themselves call it a "backup plan" I have been holding off on updating to 4.2.1 for exactly this reason. I have read somewhere that the "Greenpois0n" untethered jailbreak for 4.2.1 will be released very soon. The forum post recommended that you check the greenpois0n website regularly. BTW if the download on the greenpois0n website is still at version 4c it has not been updated and will only work for 4.0 and 4.1.
