Just Another "Please Recommend Me a New Phone" Thread
Budget R3500 to R4000 absolute max. My (not so) trusty old Galaxy S3 gave up the ghost for the 3rd time yesterday, fell out of my pocket and now has a dead non-responsive zone on the screen ... I'm gatvol fixing the damn thing so I need something new. Screen replacement and new battery would probably be in excess of R2000 anyway (if I stick to original) so that's really not an option I'm entertaining.
Phones I've looked at:
Xiaomi Redmi 2 16Gb - R2000 ... Basically same spec phone as the Galaxy it will replace though.
Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 - R3300 ... Probably my first choice for now but damn it's white!
Innjoo One - R3400 ... Some weird 2 for 1 Takealot special. Still KitKat?
Huawei P8 Lite - R3700 ... It's also white. Dammit
Motorola Moto G 3rd Gen 16Gb - R3800 ... It's from Orange, is it still a problem? Snapdragon 410 vs rest?
Xiaomi Mi 4 16Gb - R3800 ... Yet another white phone. No SD card option.
Technically 16Gb of storage is more than adequate for me, I don't store much info on my phones but SD card expandability is nice to have. I don't live in a LTE area so that's also not a deal breaker. Easy availability of accessories such as cases, sleeves and screen protectors would be really nice and lastly custom ROM's or future upgrade-ability would be nice (since most of these phones mentioned are still running on KitKat or something)
