JK8 - you asked about testing ... did it last night.
First off, I have a larger intercooler which
increases turbo lag and actually
reduces boost slightly if there are no other mods (nothing on my car). Secondly, pull off was around was 2,900rpm and eased off fairly fast and DSTC was 'on' - but flooring through the gears and shifting at 6,000rpm. If you're really interested, it was done in the evening at 18 degree's celcius on level ground.
I've heard rolling diameter of tyres make a difference on acceleration/top end - I'm not how (increases/decreases) but I have 235/35/19 on my car. After Googling, I see this lowers acceleration too :/ So with everything against me, I'm still getting respectable figures.
7.5 seconds to 100km/h and 1/4 mile in 15.5 seconds with an exit speed of 154km/h
Compared to a BWA spec 2.0T (DSG) at 7.3 seconds and 15.5 seconds as well (exit speed never over 150km/h though).
My summary is the C30 would take you with ease (always said so ...) and it's pretty much on par with a BWA until slightly gears, before the BWA starts dropping ...
