Join us, SAPS pleads with non-blacks

Thanks for the laughs SAPS...but I'll skip that AA/EE circus. Besides I doubt I'd qualify anyway given my rather modest KFC eating skills.

My old man used to say "every decision comes back to bite you in the ass eventually".

My one son wanted to join the SAP but thankfully decided otherwise.

Was requested to help out our local SAPS office who were having a problem with their alarm. Someone had pulled out the transformer plug so violently that they tore the cable out the transformer housing. One cop blamed it on the cleaner, the next blamed it on the Chubb guy who had been there 3 months previously

The best one was: Surely it has been plugged in for over a year, the battery will now be full? The station commander(ess) said I must not bring my whitey ideas into her police station, there is no need for an alarm. The following week someone broke into the supplies office and emptied it.

Such intelligence brooks no argument

Some people have a calling to serve others. Some are just #Ă·Ă—!@# guess it's a calling and in the end the only ones that will suffer and the saps and the citizens as we lose out on skills
I'm afraid that unless you have been part of a setup like the Police or other related services, you might not understand the "calling" part.

People do not know the amount of effort, dedication and sacrifices some members put in and endure.

Only the bad and negative are blasted in the media and unfortunately there are a lot to report on.

However there are still members that give it their all.

These members are noticed, but rarely receive acknowledgement, instead the shine fall on their superiors in order to make them look competent.

Yeah well the guys who sat all cops are corrupt and criminals are idiots. Perhaps they have been on the wrong side of the law? Perhaps it's a race thing and they feel cops discriminate again them ? Who knows.
I personally know guys in STF and saps that love their job .......its a calling. Maybe some people just have never given their time or effort to the country. Selfish .....

There should be a growth path for skilled SAPS members in the intelligence unit. Especially for software-security types.

I noticed this from the Oscar trial. The guy giving evidence about the iPhone looked middle-aged and skilled technically (probably had modest physical training long ago as well).

It would be nice to see highly-skilled technical/CSI type positions at the SAPS, but crime in SA is a pendemic. A guy that steals R30 million of copper shouldn't get freed in 3 months to continue stealing more copper.
