Hi there

Are you keen to learn more about trading on the JSE, what indicators to look at when trying to find value, basic share trading tips and the like?

The reason for asking: We are looking to add some value to members, and if it is something you are keen to know more about we may be able to organise something around it.

Yes. [-]Want to diversify my portfolio[/-]. Want to start a portfolio.

Yes, also information about actually starting a trading account and the pros and cons of different accounts for the average joe.
Sort of a step by step guide would be great.

Thanks for the feedback. That is what we have in mind...the basics of whatever people need to know.

Yes!! that would be great, the investor challenge that some of us are playing made me realize I know absolutely JACK about shares and share trading

/chows humble pie.

Maybe we can combine the training with something like the investor challenge?

That is the plan, or even something better ;)

I am interested in which is better to trade in gold or foreign exchange. I have family interested in foreign exchange trading but I heard that buying gold is a good idea so if this falls into the scope of this exercise I will be interested.

I'll also be interested. A tutorial on the basics would be really nice to have.

A noob investor in the Forex market is looking for trouble. Stay away - equities are much safer ;)

Thanks bud, I know zip about this stuff but the family are interested but I said let's buy gold as in rings and chains etc and then resell later but.........

Yes please. All the information out there is pretty overwhelming.
I'm keen to learn some basics with reference to the local markets.

Maybe go into how to use P/E ratio's and comparing it to the industry average.

TIP: compare leading unit trust holdings to see what fund managers are buying, then compare the commentary to see why. Often see the same share for different reasons, lol. But still useful. Just remember, they base there decisions on holding shares for the long term. Wont really help with short term speculation trading.
