Julius Malema Firearm Discharge Case

Can't be blanks. You need to back pressure of the bullet leaving the chamber in order to cycle the weapon. In training exercises, the military uses something called a blank firing adapter, or BFA, which looks like a muzzle brake and is quite obvious to notice.

*disclaimer - I haven't watched the video, as it is blocked, but from the thumbnail it sure doesn't look like it has a BFA attached. So unless he is cycling the weapon manually, there is no way he is shooting with blanks.

You're assuming it was a normal rifle, I'm assuming it was a replica, like the ones they use on tv, designed to only fire blanks.

Blanks cause back pressure and will cycle the weapon, shot many of them before. Either way there is no way MalEnima is shooting blanks in that video

A blank-firing adapter or blank-firing attachment (BFA), sometimes called a blank adapter or blank attachment, is a device used in conjunction with blank ammunition. Blank firing adapters are required for allowing blanks to cycle most automatic firearms

Not sure what weapons you were shooting, possibly pistols? Again, from the thumbnail is seems to be an AR-15 platform that he is firing - in which case, it most definitely won't cycle without a BFA, unless it was designed as a "prop gun" like Bwana mentioned.

Was he firing it semi-auto or full auto?

Yes sorry I should have said hand guns

The discussion of firing blanks or not is actually irrelevant...

Discharging a weapon like that in public is illegal, period.

Hehe I can't. I just assume that discharge means a projectile actually being released.

Actually reading the legislation... ammunition is defined as either the primer or complete cartridge, and it is illegal to discharge ammunition in a public place..

There are also issues in terms of Malemas state of intoxication, as well as Mr Snymans judgement in handing him the firearm if he was in an intoxicated state.

Is the key word here. A Blank doesn't give a discharge :p

Regardless of whether it was "discharged", what about possession of such a weapon without the appropriate licenses, and waving it around and pointing it in public. Aren't those actions alone considered highly illegal, let alone actually firing it?

you both are not supporting eff anymore?

that is the best party in the human history .....

You reckon?

DK DK DK...don't get too excited. Settle down. Just because I disagree with far right opinion and propaganda doesn't make me EFF/DA/ANC/PAC/AZAPO (cough cough) or any similar party. See, unlike you, I acknowledge and applaud good and denounce bad irrespective of party.

Furthermore, I'm unambiguous when it comes to affiliation. I've stated many times that I've never affiliated and never will. I don't see the point of it other than fund raising. I'd rather donate to NPO's. However, I don't boycott elections.

Now, go ahead and call me EFF minion if it makes a difference. It's a default moniker for the locals™ after all.

Even worse,

iirc sport stadiums are gun free zones. ONLY police and military are allowed to have weapons in Gun free zones.
