A possible 15 years in jail for assault rifle ‘shooting’ – has Malema EFFed up?

EFF leader Julius Malema will certainly have to appear in court for allegedly discharging an assault rifle in a public space and may face jail time of a minimum of 15 years, says a leading legal expert specialising in firearms law who spoke to News24 on the condition of anonymity.

“The NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) will have to prosecute Malema because there is a prima facie case.”


According to the lawyer, Malema will most likely be arrested, processed and appear in court.
 
Minimum 15yrs but rapists and murderers sometimes get 7 or 8.

It was an AR15 live firing. And no...it wasn't blanks. Blanks don't cycle an AR15, you need to have a BFA fitted to it, which that one didn't have and there is zero chance it was a toy or a real one with blanks.

Why not make yourself available as an expert when it goes to court?
 
Watched that video a few times, this seems to be the closest resembling what @Glock26 mentioned

It's definitely live fire regardless of blanks or not. Both are illegal in this format. Interesting that in the video a white guy takes the weapon and sneaks away. Who is he? He should be held to testify. Their excuse for it being a recording is laughable. It would be impossible to syncronise these flashes and sounds without a complex system of triggers. A forensic audiologist could easily review these recordings and ascertain if the sound was emitted from the visual source or from a speaker system. Besides this though, it's unlikely that if it was a recorded sound/trigger system that they'd only do it once. They'd have used it throughout the event, which they didn't.
 
That stadium was pretty empty for an organisation the MyBroaderbond is convinced will enact white genocide.

I actually saw him here in Cape Town hanging out a taxi with a loud hailer and like 15 people gathered.

I think the reports of iminent civil war may have been somewhat overstated.
