Malema to step down

ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema came down to earth with a bang.

Julius Malema will step down as president of the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) next year, the Witness website reported on Friday.

“My term ends next year and I think those who hate me so much … should celebrate,” Malema said on Thursday at a news conference in Johannesburg, shortly after a meeting of the youth league’s working committee.

Malema was elected president of the ANCYL in April 2008 and his term ends in April 2011.

“If they have decided to extend it to June … then that’s fine too. In June next year I will be done as president of the youth league,” he said.

“The youth league will find its own way around the issue of 1/8a new 3/8 president …They shouldn’t worry because there will always be a leader in the youth league.”

It was Malema’s first news conference since ANC president Jacob Zuma rapped him over the knuckles last week during the party’s national general council (NGC) in Durban. - Sapa

Not following? I guess its expected, but that comment makes it seem like this is where he is moving to? Is that correct? Is he stepping down and joining the main ANC party?
 
Ok, a predication: Vavi steps down next year and Malema takes over as president of COSATU.

Not impossible, especially of Vavi gets redeployed.
 
The question we should be asking is where does he do the most damage?
The Prez of the "ANCYL" or somewhere in ANC?

And also what "mampara" is going to replace him - evolution seems to go backwards in these parties.

No that was just the first thing I thought of, Zuma's golden boy. . Do you think he will get off the gravy train? Maybe he will just keep on getting jobs. But where will he shout his mouth off?

Maybe he can head the media tribunal?
I think he would like the mines more.

Agreed, that's probably why he said haters can celebrate, since he'll be back with a bigger mouth :p
 
Either numbnut joins the "big men's" ANC, or starts his own opposition party, hauls in recruits from the DA, Cope, COSiwAnTU, ANC, etc, thereby destabilizing all and sundry and pulling our economy further into the doldrums
 
Well, Julius as ANCYL president did damage to the ANC's rep, but only a little, Julius in the ANC could very well destroy the ANC as we know it... He's had a taste of power, and will do everything in his abilities to make sure Jacob (who seems to be pissing julius off... almost like you smacking a child for kicking an old lady, which results in angry and bitter child) is thrown out... I pray that the ANC begins to split itself up.
 
He is an arse...no matter where he opens his mouth.

I once heard him in an interview on SAFM and he talked total sense. Must have been an agent.
